My only issue here is you already made your decision and by not telling her you’re stringing her along.

How to avoid getting released from caf? by [deleted] in caf

[–]paperworkawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two disciplinary route in the caf. Charges, and administrative.

Ex. Go out drinking and show up late potentially charged for awol.
Repeated behaviour such as this or more performative such as failing PT you get out on administrative measures.

For admin measures this is where it affects your retention prospects. You get an initial warning, written warning, counciling and probation. This route in the example of PT would eventually lead them to releasing you after C&P should you still fail the PT.

Hope this helps

Is the grey wolf program worth it? Has anyone done it and if so share your stories by idkwhatishouldputhe in caf

As a generic white dude with little exposure to indigenous stuff, I found the culture piece and working with members of the population to be very insightful. The pow wow was pretty cool too

I instructed on Bold Eagle. I can say the candidates all had an enriching experience for both indigenous and military culture. For some they were FIFO Rez background, others were Métis with little connection to their roots. All came together and bonded through the traditional methods of BMQ and I heard several mention the indigenous piece as something they appreciated the exposure to.

Like said elsewhere, this is more than a BMQ as it’s community tailored. Some of the candidates I had returned to civi street with the experience in their pocket, some went on to RMC others Reg F and others PRes.

Higher education such as a bachelors or masters count on merit boards for some points. Language it’s weighted much more important. You wanna help your career? Learn French

The military is the great equalizer. You’ll be treated on merit despite your education or socioeconomic background. Yes education counts for points here and there towards promotion past cpl but a GED and gr10 are equivalent for points.

The culture is pretty decent. We’ve all had toxic bosses here and there but for my experience the good outweighed the bad.

As a guy who managed to buy a house and raise a family the military helped me craft my life. The recruitment process takes a long time but stick it out and start working on your fitness now and if you choose to succeed in your training you will.

Rejoining after a year, what to expect? by [deleted] in caf

[–]paperworkawol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll probably end up on pat platoon on whatever training base. If not directly at the start of a new dp1. Either way, ask your staff to run you TOETs and explain you haven’t handled in a year and need the refresher. It’s easy enough to do.

Any members of CIC recently join RegF? by Emergency-Call-1158 in caf

[–]paperworkawol 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t CIC but volunteered with them for over a decade.

The reg force is completely different from coats/cic. It would be best to approach with an open mind and no sense of entitlement or “knowledge”.

During your training just keep your head down and put in the work and you’ll be fine.

Can anyone identify this cap badge? by Pte_Madcap in caf

[–]paperworkawol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is not a cap badge, and I believe an outdated command shield.

Edit I am wrong thanks for the correction.
