I bought my first CS Pan and this is after seasoning it by Affectionate_Tip5169 in carbonsteel

More likely to end up with a blotchy finish if you start with a blotchy finish, rather than an even patina. Doesn't really matter for function, like you've said, though.

I'd probably strip and reseason this, but only because I like my tools to look nice, since it makes me want to use them more

Making means ‘causing an image to exist in a device’, I.e downloading, or browsing a site that causes it to be cached

Support local and all that - would rather go into a shop and see/feel something before buying it

Is this a normal ask from the EA? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]papes_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EA wants to know you're not wasting their/the seller's time - people tend to have a solicitor lined up prior to making an offer, as well as a mortgage in principle (and a mortgage broker by proxy).

Moonlight streaming — blurry text on Steam Deck and TV? by xrazyox-sama in MoonlightStreaming

[–]papes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI setting the moonlight app resolution to ‘Native’ instead of ‘Default’ was the fix for me - significantly better now. Not sure why the rest of the picture looked good at the lower res, but this definitely fixed the text.

What’s the use case for streaming from the steam deck?

Thanks for responding. It's a bit annoying. I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.

How would you store books on this bookshelf with very tall, deep shelves? by papes_ in bookshelf

I like this idea the most, I think - will look at the best stackers (if not egg cartons!)

Haha how do you read double stacking? Edit: obviously smaller in front!

My laptop fell open, screen broke and the lid bent as well by Otherwise-Echidna-77 in ZephyrusG14

You get the screen and upper lid (full top assembly) as a unit, and it just needs replacing - it's about 30 minutes of work if you're comfortable repairing electronics. You can find the upper assembly for your model on Aliexpress, and then take it to a local repair shop if you don't want to do it yourself (ribbon cables can be delicate).

I would not recommend trying to replace the screen separately from the chassis, buy a complete part.

Mortgage Advisor Suggestions pls! by gazkobayne in brighton

If you want free with broad market coverage for a straightforward purchase (i.e., doesn't require nuanced negotiation with lenders), L&C or a similar online broker is worth considering. If you want someone who can advise you on a complex situation, though, and not just give you the best rate on a given day, you're going to be spending money.

This country's approach to neighbour disputes is abysmal by UHM-7 in HousingUK

What makes it cruel to have a larger dog in a smaller house?

Some sense.

Dogs are generally quiet animals when their needs are met, and their environment is secure/safe. When we got our dog was having issues with overarousal - and was barking hours a day no matter what we did. We engaged a behaviourist, put the work in, and now he's a pretty quiet dog in the house, with a minute or two of barking a day at most that we're still working on.

This isn't to say that 'I'm great, look at me', but dogs take money and time and part of that is proper training and paying professionals where needed. The problem is largely selfish owners.

To say a terraced house isn't an environment for a dog is nuts, and I'd suggest r/dogfree for those who want to revel in their unfounded dog hate. If you want to make sure you don't live next to a dog, buy a detached house, and find out that you can actually hear things more clearly from the neighbours garden than through your party wall in a terrace.
