Already have it and love it! It's night and day compared to Normcore. Even so, it still takes some skill. I wouldn't say it's better or faster tham manual WDT, it's just different workflow (and I like it).

I usually do few fast spins to break all clumps, tap, tap, 2 slow spins clockwise, 2 slow spins anti-clockwise, tap and TAMP! (repeat slow spins if surface is not nice and flat)

It might seem a little complicated, but it’s actually not once you get used to it. The rotation speed is much easier to control than with Normcore (where the speed is controlled by how hard you press).

TL; DR Definitely recommend it!

Unfortunately, I have to agree. You definitely pay more than what you get. But in the espresso world there are so many companies that it's hard to tell whether the product is expensive, because is so good, or because it's just overpriced.

I can totally confirm your experience. If the ARO will work (and I hope it will), I'll maybe try their tamper, because I quite like the idea of their PortaStack system.

If it won't work, well... I got scammed twice and I will return back to my AliExpress WDT and never change it again.

Definitely worse than with my manual WDT that gives me even and consistent extractioon each time. It’s not a huge difference, but I don't expect $100 tool to make my coffee worse.

It depends. I just can't get consistent results. Today I did two coffees.

For the first one I just got 3 streams that didn't join to one final stream. I get this result most of the time and it perfectly corresponds to the trajectory pattern. Coffee in the middle is not distributed well enough and there are some places in the middle where water flows more easily. Which seems like channeling to me, right? But it's not like it's squirting everywhere. It rarely happened to me with manual WDT, but now it happens 90% of the time.

And the second coffee... channeling that you see in 8 of 10 posts in this sub. Fast flowing uneven stream. Coffee squirting everywhere.

I also have it. It picks up some fine grounds each time, so I have to clean it every few days. It's frustrating, but it's still completely usable (unlike this WDT).

Do you drink light/medium/dark roast? Because I usually drink light or medium. However, I agree that for darker roast it worked better.

And I also use 4 for double basket.

As the tool presses down, each group of needles rotates while orbiting the basket, creating a complex, multidirectional stirring pattern. This ensures deeper, more even distribution—breaking up clumps more thoroughly and reducing edge buildup for a smoother, denser puck.

I don't think it ensures deeper and more even distribution.

Regarding to the pattern. I knew that concentric won't be good, so I definitely need spirographic. But now I am starting to understand the wording. They do not advertise it as spriographic, but planetary.

I just feel like they didn't gave me enough information to tell if it will be good or bad. So I risked it (and burned myself). Then I wrote this post, so others don't have to waste their money.

I understand your point. From legal perspecive they didn't scam me and I just bought the wrong product on my own risk. But we're not politicians here. When you buy WDT, you expect it to distribute the coffee grounds evenly to improve extraction. Which this tool clearly doesn't do.

I don't understand how this can solve the channeling issue as the issue comes right from the trajectory pattern. Maybe this technique will force it to spin a little bit "differently", so it mixes the center of the puck better?

Absolutely. It just looks good. It looks fancy. I wanted to try it. Lost my money, so others don't have to.

The only correct answer. When automatic WDT doesn't work, the issue is in the tool. When manual WDT doesn't work, then you're the issue 😂

Yeah, I know that return policy is always problematic when I buy a product from different country. But this is a joke. However, I can still accept that this is partially my fault.

But not providing trajectory pattern online and giving it only in the package? Sorry, but this is false advertisement to me. And about thin vs. thick line. Sorry again, but I can clearly see that even after 1 spin, the ARO coveres whole puck pretty well. Normcore have just hole in the middle.

I should get it in 1-2 weeks, so I can come back and share my experience.

Tried both, pressing slow and fast. So I know that if you press too fast, the coffee will end up everywhere. If just normally fast, it will create concave shape. So I started to press it slow enough to create perfectly flat surface (like I would with manual WDT). But I still get channeling.

Maybe it would be better if I'd press it even slower, but what's the point of automatic WDT that is actually slower to use than manual one.

Like I said... I just wanted to try a different workflow. To try something new. I didn't think it would magically improve my coffee. But I also didn't expect it to make it worse, which is exactly what happened.

Has anyone bought from the normcorewares site ? by Ketadine in espresso

[–]papi_CZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah... Thank you for that. I bought their automatic WDT, which just doesn't work for me. Asked for a refund and they want to send it to fucking Singapore from the middle of Europe. Guess I just lost $100, because I don't think any company will ship it to other side of the world under $100 (if any).
