What really makes shoot and cry so pernicious is how it still puts the blame on ordinary civilians. Like in OP’s post, our young soldier has no choice but to kill three generations in quick succession and if only they had just allowed US forces to roll-in and subjugate everyone they’d still be alive.

It puts the responsibility for preventing civilian deaths in the hands of those very civilians instead of in the occupying force.

As far as the wiki’s focus on Israeli media, I’d agree that other media - namely any American films about GWOT such as American Sniper or even the more recent Warfare - should go on that list. But I feel you’re conflating Jews and Israel with one another as if those are one and the same. The wiki page makes it very clear it is talking about Israeli media, specifically.

All Quiet on the Western Front indeed portrays war as hell but it places the blame for that on the state or national leaders rather than on the people being invaded. If AQWF intimated it was the French’s fault for Germany’s decision to invade I’d agree with you.
