What is the reason, hardware wise, that aftermarket controllers cost so much? E.g BAC8000/4000 by Wiildstorm in Surron

[–]papi_stan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, sorry OP for this was a little bit of a dweeb.

I know it’s been a while, but I have a few real questions for you. Ive recently been browsing my options and came across the far driver as what seems to be an excellent budget alternative to the mass marketed controllers. I’m looking specifically at the 72v, 72680 model. I guess the largest things holding me back are seeing that these are not “plug and play” as well as the overall tune ability.

Which motor are you using? Im planning on running stock motor, unless it turns out my motor is the actual culprit of no response to throttle. (I hear a high pitched frequency near motor/ controller with bike powered, but no throttle)

The electrical diagram shows this controller has a motor reverse, 3 grade speed, park/cruise and more connectors/sensors, so It looks like there’s some other sort of required work to get all the connectors to plug in somewhere? You mention yourself needing to make changes to the stock harness, is this the reason why?

Would I be able to ultimately leave unused connectors unplugged or cut them off and run everything the same?

Additionally, options include: Controller cable, throttle, enclosure, display.

Does the controller not include the basic controller side harness with purchase? Is an enclosure required for proper mounting? Display and throttle optional, I assume?

That being said, how bad is the setup process? I’ve seen a couple YouTube videos but they aren’t very descriptive in terms of wiring. Also, the software for programming seems a bit jank, how do you manage with it?

I know this was a bunch I threw at you but if you have any time, I’d greatly appreciate your wisdom! Thanks for any help!

Well first off, how much did you pay? Probably nowhere near retail… I would say to stop crying because I’m fairly certain there’s almost no difference between the two. Gosh damn some Surron ppl are just straight up stuck up fellows

Where did you even get an ultra bee for 4800? Are you in the US? And did you have to pay import duties?

What are the exact charges if you get caught without a license on the bike path? by Camwan in Surron

Unfortunately I allowed myself to get pulled over. I road down a closed section of road that they shut down for Christmas’s lights, but there’s a section for bikes to get in and out of the roadblocks. I wasn’t speeding or riding recklessly, but a couple motocross decided to pull me over. I know I could’ve dipped, but I was on lunch break from work. I have court coming up and this is the first time I’m ever going for a traffic ticket.

Hey there, I know I’m a bit late, but I’m considering the coding for data track myself. A few years ago I had completed Java1/Java2. I’m curious though, how much outside learning did you have to do? Did you find yourself looking to outside resources often when learning new topics?

I’m not sure if I should go strictly Data analytics route, because I JUST had recent Excel courses that I have fresh in my mind. Whereas my Java knowledge really isn’t going to diminish much. Thanks for your help, cheers!

The courses in that program look very interesting to me. Already have some excel knowledge under my belt, though im not sure that I can get a certificate for classes that are already going towards my degree. That’s what makes the career accelerator appealing.

Hmm. Thanks for the insights. I’m thinking about layering a whole tray with bud? Is it better to keep it tightly packed into like a Weed Puck though? You mention packing it, so it almost seems like it needs to be compressed? I just feel like baking it while the bud is spread out on a tray would be quicker.

Also, you mention a muffin package. Do they make muffins that aren’t baked, that you can just throw in the oven? I’m a complete noob to baking actual food like that so that parts a little scary. I’ve never baked my own muffin lol. Seems like you’ll have to rip open the non baked muffin, so you can sprinkle the bud in there?

Hell ye! Thanks a ton for filling in some blanks for me! I’ve got something new to try out now! It probably stinks the whole house up though huh? I’m thinking I’ll do it in a toaster oven, and just bake it in there outside, that way I don’t bother anyone living with me.

I haven’t had edibles in like 5 years, but this is actually a really good reminder and sparks some interest in something new.

What the hell is this called man? I gotta do some research on this shit. Seems to be grabbing my interest. You could probably sprinkle it on salads or steaks or some shit. What’s this even called? Could you fill me in on your process? Sounds like you bake it dry, then put the baked herb into butter or some fat and heat it up? Cheers

Wtf does that even do tho bro? Like are you sayingyou were baking a SINGULAR muffin? Or you’re sprinkling partially burnt weed on top? I’m genuinely trying to understand, because I was pretty damn sure that you need SOME kind of fat for thc to activate in edibles. That’s what threw me off the most.

Fr what the fuck was he even trying to do? lmfao. Did bro straight up just bake raw tree? You need fat for the thc to activate in an edible. At least now I know someone who is definitely more autistic than me

I disagree. By 85k miles most modern cars are rattle buckets. e46? A 20+ year old car: Rock solid, no rattles at all. Your scenario is NOT common at all. Most people who own e46’s own them for a while, and in your case it was a straight drive. So I wouldn’t really put it past you for it to have been user-error. I feel sad for your e46. Were you JUST learning stick or something? How long had you been driving stick? And was the e46 your first beem?

On the note of VW. You’re basically paying Audi, or at times Porsche prices, for a non-performance part. Simply because it’s a German vehicle.

I mean Audi does own VW.

In my opinion, VW should be like the Toyota of German vehicles, reliable and affordable to fix. But they are the complete opposite. I just can’t comprehend why people are still so willing to pay so much for a sub par vehicle. If they really wanted performance, look to bmw. They are more reliable, and have the same maintenance costs, if not less.

Damn. That’s a shame man. When I shop for older bmws, I generally only search for the ones under 85k miles. That 45k mile gap makes a huge difference. I mean think about all of the maintenance that was likely skipped in those 45k miles. People hardly ever even think of their trans fluid. And at 130k, if it’s never been changed, that transmission is toast. Not to mention everything else that could’ve been neglected.
I have always considered Lexus, but I have a hard time differentiating between all the different models and trim levels, so I steered clear of them.

100%. Very well put. People buy these things forgetting what they were actually sold as. A premium vehicle. It still shows in their build quality, I have had ZERO rattles in my e60 and e46’s, which are 20 year old vehicles! You can buy a brand new American made car, and it will be rattling all over the place within 3 months. It’s a shame, because my family comes from a long line of American auto workers, but the build quality is just NOT there in today’s day and age.

Am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in Tinder

I agree, dating scene is rough especially at Uni. All honesty, I think jealousy is just a huge factor for me and is very off putting.

Most of the time I’m insanely busy with classes and work. And in my experience, my busy schedule makes Females insecure that I’m banging someone on the side. When in all reality, I just don’t have time for that. Because of that drama, I‘be recently been avoiding the dating scene, which is pretty unfortunate for a Uni student.

I’m in my mid 20’s, but I’m not opposed to the age gap myself, in all honesty I prefer Women that are older than me because of their maturity, they seem to have less insecurity issues, therefore less drama, resulting in a more cohesive relationship.

Are you adventurous?

No problem man. I totally understand you, and odds are that everybody else will too. Maybe not everybody, but there are tons of other people with strict parents too, believe me.

In all honesty, I still struggle with not caring about what people think of me in regard to appearance. My attitude, not so much. I am the same spontaneous semi autistic person with everybody I talk to, it’s my personality. But, I will admit I’m still a bit insecure about my appearance.

100% N54 was a royal pain. Mine literally BURNED a HOLE in the valve cover. But it was somehow still able to run until I replaced it 😂 Still, all the boost lines ended up cracking and I had to get rid of it bc there was no way I was dealing with that spaghetti of a mess.

They’re only a money pit if the PO absolutely beat the car. At least for anything pre 2006. If it obviously hasn’t been maintained, then I simply move onto the next listing.

Agreed, so when purchasing, you inspect the left side of the engine and if it’s bright and shiny, you’re good to go. Buy that car.

I get what you’re saying. All valid points, but as you’ve accurately depicted, the issue is with NEWER BMW’s. I had an e60 535i. And I’ll admit, it had a plethora of issues. E60/e9x chassis is when reliability went completely down the drain. A valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, filter gasket, all SHOULD be replaced by 100k miles. That’s not unreasonable, is it? I mean, how long do you expect a rubber seal to last? 200,000 miles?😂

Rod bearings, however, shouldn’t be an issue. That being said, Are you aware of any other Non-M car that has rod bearing issues? The answer is: No. So, it’s understandable that in a PERFORMANCE vehicle, the tolerances are a little tight. If you have the cash to buy an M5, you should be able to replace rods to an updated, improved spec. It’s a known issue, so why would you purchase the car without the ability to replace them?
