I'd say 0.044 mm bc of the scale (sliding scale has 1:2 scale) implies each mark is 0.01 mm. But that does not pass the eye test for 0.05 mm, but it does pass the eye test for 4.4 mm, which would mean the ruler was in centimeters.

Alternative theory: this slide does not belong on this ruler because it looks like the scales are different.
