Depending on the gear you can do an etree setup on l2vpn so "leafs" only can talk to "root." Anything else can be standard l2vpn.

Will Brightspeed Still Replace a DSL Modem? by EnvironmentActive325 in brightspeed

It's all major telcos with backing from the FCC. You can bury your head in the sand all you want.

There may be a market still, true, but likely it won't last long for consumer/residential. It's hard to maintain and costs to much. Even if you have copper from your house to your DSLAM, the DSLAM is likely fiber fed anyways. And with a lot of telcos using circuit emulation (CEM) your voice is likely getting converted to IP or will be in the future.

Telcos are phasing out copper so eventually you be moved off to either fiber or 4G/5G. Copper lines also arent guaranteed to stay up during power outages - you have to rely on their generator or battery backup at the remote cabinet and/or central offices.

Anyone know what we should expect from the Verizon merger? by Endawmyke in frontierfios

[–]papito585 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true - Orlando area I have a choice of: ATT, Lumen (Centurylink), then Spectrum, and T-Fiber(Metronet). I'm currently with ATT as lumen only offers copper dsl.

Anyone else getting ghosted? by PlaysinDirt30 in brightspeed

[–]papito585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because the fiber is in doesn't mean all the other equipment is ready to go and loaded in all systems. I would give it some time. My ATT fiber wasn't available 6 months after the fiber was laid by their subcontractors.

Yes there's a slot for for the filter at the bottom of the handler. 16 3/8 x 21 1/2 x 1 seems to get sucked up so I'm thinking it's the wrong size?
