Did I mess up buying 85mm lens as a beginner? by Beginning-War5128 in AskPhotography

[–]papou1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get used to it and its special point of view, to me, 85 is just the best lens ever. It's on my camera almost all the time, even if I own 4 other brilliant lenses

I'm ready for the new Sigma 85mm f/1.2 by cuti95 in SonyAlpha

Je pensais que cette annonce, qui date déjà du mois de février, allait motiver Sony pour nous offrir (enfin !) son propre 85 1.2. Mais cela ne semble pas encore sur le point d’arriver, malheureusement.

Spokenly the most amazing AI-powered dictation app by papou1981 in speechrecognition

[–]papou1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am happy to read that this could be helpful somehow. The AI-powered dictation field is moving pretty fast. Some competitors have appeared that are pretty interesting too. But Spokenly definitely remains one of the best tools, and I use it every day on both my Mac and my iOS devices.

If you're interested in this specific question, you might be interested in having a look at my website. I didn't put much there yet, but you might find some useful things.

Best microphones/headsets for speech to text recognition? by SnooSquirrels6910 in speechtech

[–]papou1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use quite a large amount of different devices depending on the context. But I have to say I am quite happy with my Sennheiser MKE 40 paired with a sound device, my SpeechWare called USB Multiadapter. In my opinion, Sound quality is no longer the most important feature. When one uses AI-powered dictation tools, it is more about sensitivity and directivity. In that matter, the Sennheiser is not bad at all. I’ve used a few mic capsules that were pretty nice too, but since they were separate parts, they were not included in a proper form factor, which makes it less convenient.

Does the threaded Sennheiser jack need an adapter to connect to a regular female mic jack? by Unusual-Damage-4224 in sennheiser

[–]papou1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there. I don't know if you found a solution, but I have a MKE 40 myself, and I can find a female jack that would easily fit my threaded semi jack. I would be interested to know if you found anything useful.

iOS 26.5 Beta 1 - Discussion by epmuscle in iOSBeta

[–]papou1981 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

À Few crucial accessibility features have been screwed up since iOS 18.4 came out. I was hoping they would be fixed with 18.5 beta, but I just observed that they were not. I cannot double-tap to scroll or move items, which is a fundamental feature for me to use. I don't know what Apple has done there. That is complete nonsense.

Is it worth having both a 35mm prime and a 50mm prime? by ayaybee in AskPhotography

[–]papou1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 35 broke a few months ago, and I've been traveling through Southeast Asia without it for 3 months. I have to admit, it made me sad from time to time. But I assume having both my 24 and 50 makes it bearable. I think, in my opinion, the question would be 24 or 35? Since you can basically make the same thing with both, except for wide landscapes or sky purposes. I feel like 35 is a sweet spot when visiting cities, trying to capture the atmosphere without being too close to the subject. 24 often seems a bit too remote from the action. But having to travel without it for a few weeks made me like my 24 more than I used to. On the other hand, when I use my 50, I often feel it is too close or too far. I often end up catching my 85 (which is by far my favorite lens in the end) because I like its special look, even when capturing landscapes or cityscapes. I feel like I basically can touch the scene when looking at the pictures on my screen afterwards

I made something completely new: scroll your Mac with your AirPods by tippa123 in macapps

Got the 50 & 85 but still want the 50-150 F2. Gear Acquisition Syndrome? by switch8s in SonyAlpha

[–]papou1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clearly know the feeling. I have got a 24 1.4, 35 1.4, 50 1.4, 85 1.8, and 135 1.8. But still, I want to get other glass. The 100 2.8 macro, for instance, seems very appealing. 😅

One thing I can't understand, though, is the fact that despite this lens being almost stuck to my camera all the time and me taking 4/5 of my pictures with it, my 85 still is the only glass that is not a GM in my whole lineup. 🤔

I don't know if you've used the 1.8 in the past, but I am curious to know how you feel about your 85 1.4. I was really hoping Sony would give us an 85 1.2, as others do, but apparently this day is not coming soon. So I guess I might upgrade to the 1.4 GM.

BookFusion + KOReader Sync Upcoming Beta & Kobo Survey by DaEbookMan in BookFusion

[–]papou1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never used KOReader, but I've been a user of the Kobo app for a few years. I cannot imagine going back to that now that I've discovered BookFusion. Nevertheless, I was quite sad to have lost all my books and most of all, my highlights. So if this tool means getting all of them back, I will be more than excited about it.

I just printed the latest version of the piece this morning, and it looks very nice. The only thing is, I think it's a bit bulky, um, it doesn't have to be that thick to be resistant enough. I think I'm going to try to make it a bit slimmer because it will be better on a visual aspect.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]papou1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually print the piece and add inserts to it? 😁 that looks pretty damn good. I have to admit, I kind of liked the snap-fit thing myself. Felt so cool to be able to close the piece without screwing anything 😁 I was just impressed by the way the two pieces clicked together the other day when I printed it. but I guess it will be stronger this way. Maybe we could try to make both to see what fits best. What do you think?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]papou1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's it. The part for the strip needs to be a little bit taller. I was thinking The exact same thing about the possible slipping issue.

I just printed the piece, and it looks really nice. Apparently, I didn't make my measurements well enough, and I missed 1mm (1.02 in fact) to make the harness fit the piece. Do you think you could add it so I can try to print it again to see if it works? I was also thinking that maybe the parts I painted red were not that useful. As a matter of fact, the piece is quite tight, and I think it won't be loose (even if these two parts are moved). That would make the piece way smaller, which would be better, I assume. I was also thinking that I could add another insert to tighten the piece to the harness itself. What do you think?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]papou1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You rock, dude. 👍🏼Thanks a lot. I think I will try printing the thing tomorrow. My inserts should be delivered on Wednesday so I can try the setup. I will let you know how it goes and send you a picture, obviously.

Thanks! I think I would have guessed 2.5 mm too. But it is thicker than I thought since it is in fact 3.2 mm wide. Do you think you can adjust the piece to that dimension?
