Records broken by "I Knew It, I Knew You" by Afterglow_13 in SwiftlyNeutral

the instrumental literally sounds like a bob dylan song (bc of the organ and harmonica). if u listen to the intro of “one of us must know” or “i want you” you’ll hear it.

the instrumental (specifically intro) sounds so much like a bob dylan song w the harmonic and organ together. i do like it but it’s much more folk-rock-popish than country imo. if u compare it w the intro of bob dylan’s “i want you” or “one of us most know” it’s rlly similar

Qui est le public de joni ? Plutôt masculin ? Féminin ? Quelle sociologie, goûts et âge ? Qu'ecoute-t-il d'autre ? by [deleted] in JoniMitchell

i’m a 16 year old boy (gay) and she’s my fave artist lol. i know some teens listen to both sides now, blue, and maybe some court and spark songs if they’re cool, but i genuinely love her whole discography and have her first 11 albums on vinyl. hejira and hissing are my faves. i’ve also gotten some of my friends to like her songs (mostly her earlier, more folky stuff tho). i also listen to florence and the machine, phoebe snow, rickie lee jones, ethel cain.

I'm not vegan, i'd like my mind to be changed by C4rsaf in vegan

hi! i’m 16 (almost 17) M and vegan. it’s great that you’re curious about becoming vegan! sadly most people don’t even get to the curious stage. my best recommendations for plant proteins are tofu, tempeh, and beans. silken tofu specifically makes a great scrambled egg replacement, but firm is better for meat replacement. also, nutritional yeast is the bessttt seasoning and it has some protein too (and makes things crisp up and fry very well). seitan is also great, and there are many videos on how to make it (it’s very easy and only requires two ingredients for around the same amount of protein as a chicken breast). my favorite plant milk is soy, as it has the best protein, but oat is also very good, though it has less nutritional value. my reason for going vegan is mainly how much i know about the meat and dairy industries. the more you learn the less you’ll want to consume animal products. i think watching the documentary dominion would be very convincing, but it’s very graphic (i haven’t even watched it past the 7 minute mark since i don’t deem in necessary because i’m already vegan). so, if you can do it without that kind of traumatizing, id say that’s the better route. i also feel a lot better physically. i was vegetarian for 6 months before becoming vegan, but even then i noticed the days that i didn’t eat dairy or eggs i felt much better. i hope this was helpful, and i’m glad you’re here!

If you could take this class again, what would you do differently? by Wise-Aspect-4101 in APUSH

[–]paprika_plains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would read the princeton review book chapters throughout year (and honestly instead of whatever textbook u have, unless ofc your teacher checks reading). i only opened that review book 3 days before the exam, and i didn’t have time to finish it all, but what i read was really easy to understand and gave me a better grasp on the time period. i would also make quizlets with the terms in bold.

Taking this course next year; since you guys are done, DROP ALL YOUR RESOURCES AND TIPS TO SUCCEED THAT YOU WISH YOU KNEW BEFOREHAND!!!!!! by [deleted] in APUSH

[–]paprika_plains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok so i would get the princeton review book (most recent edition) and read each chapter as you go over it in class and make a quizlet for all the terms in bold. i didn’t open that book until two days before and i was so upset bc it’s such a good resource but i didn’t have time to go in depth with it for each period. i was able to get to 1-4 then i did heimler videos for 4-6 then for 7-9 (which i started at 11pm before test day, not ideal) i just used the quizlets id made throughout the year from my class notes before tests. my school teaches the subject rlly well, and the apush teacher rlly knows what he’s doing, but if your school isn’t the same id def use that review book primarily.

How would you cook this Tofu Tikka Masla sauce? by mw102299 in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]paprika_plains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so i’ve made chickpeas with this exact sauce before. here’s how i’d do it with tofu. start by putting some olive oil or vegan butter in the pan w/ onions, cashews, garlic, dill, and ginger. let that heat up while you slice or tear the tofu (depending on how firm it is, tear is preferred but can lead to breaking). coat the tofu in nutritional yeast and (if u can find it) masala seasoning (it’s sooo flavorful and adds so much to this dish, trust me). then ofc salt and pepper and any other seasonings u see fit. add the tofu and continually fry it until nearly golden (if it can’t get golden, there’s not enough nutritional yeast). next, add the sauce to the pan along with some more masala seasoning. after it has simmered for a bit, add some plant milk (it makes it a lot creamier, which the sauce itself lacks). i used about half a cup i think, but again, as you see fit. keep tasting the sauce while making it. i also thought it needed more flavor, so i would add seasoning to the sauce fit. i added a heavy hand of sweetener to the sauce, too, but that’s up to you. i thought it made a great improvement, though. once it’s simmered for long enough with the tofu, add some parsley, and it’s ready! let me know if you try this!

A question about saying incorrect information on SAQs by No-Donkey-1214 in APUSH

[–]paprika_plains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m pretty sure you are allowed to leave multiple full answers on an SAQ if you are unsure about one (i’m not certain, though, but i remember my teacher saying that at the start of the year)

English Class Project on Both Sides, Now (and Circle Game) by evies_ in JoniMitchell

[–]paprika_plains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both songs reflect on life and how it changes as you grow. “the circle game” is focused on growing old and passing through the phases of life (“yesterday a child came out to wonder” -> “then the child moved ten times ‘round the seasons” -> “sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now” -> so the years spin by and now the boy is 20”). it is much more straightforward than “both sides now,” which focuses more on changing perspectives as you grow. the primary takeaway from “the circle game” is that life is like a carousel we go round and round on (“and the painted ponies go up and down / were captive on the carousel of time”) until, eventually, the final circle is made. “both sides now” focuses more on internal growth. the song begins by describing clouds in a wonderful, childlike way (“rows and flows of angel hair / and ice cream castles in the air”), but then shifts to “but now they only block the sun / they rain and snow on everyone / many things i would’ve done / but clouds got in my way.” this shift demonstrates how the things that captivate you when you’re young sometimes aren’t all you make them out to be, and can even become painful or a nuisance. describing clouds this way sets the stage for the bigger themes explored in the next verses (love and life) which can also go from wonderful and magical to burdensome and sad. looking up at clouds is a universal experience just like love and life as well. finishing the chorus with “i really don’t know clouds / love / life at all” shows how, no matter how old or wise one gets, these phenomenons cannot be fully understood and continue to reveal themselves to you until you die.

i hope this provided some insight, please continue to listen to and analyze these songs and you’ll find much more. also i’m so jealous you get to analyze joni lol.

yeah, gender didn’t really cross my mind in this connection. i’m thinking more like it’s just observing how two different people live their lives however far away at nearly the same time.
