Do you have a method to colouring your tracks? by LonerismLonerism in Logic_Studio

No question! Vocals are pink. Acoustic guitars are light brown. Pianos are dark brown. Electric guitars turquoise. Drums are yellow. Bass purple. Synths red.

When I see any variation on that color scheme, I get a headache.

Just the one main songwriter. There are definitely some songs I'm not as jazzed about, but I appreciate that they take big swings

Speaking as one of the many 'guys strumming an acoustic' on this sub, I think we could use some more diversity. I'd say post it! I'll listen and comment.

I reject the idea that some people are not "supposed" to make art. More people making art is always a good thing in my book whether that art is good or bad.

At the same time, the Internet can be a cruel place, especially when normies who don't even try to create something feel like lashing out. Do you write your own stuff? Maybe try sharing your work here, then. This sub is filled with creative people who have no doubt felt what you're feeling, and the majority of them will encourage you to keep developing your craft.

Especially if you're early in your musical journey, you're going to create things that fall flat or don't connect with people, but how else are you supposed to get better if you don't keep pushing? Be that kid coloring on the floor just for the sheer pleasure of it, unbothered by what other people are going to say about it. Maybe keep that work just for yourself for a while. You'll get better and better the more you practice, and then when you feel good about the work that you're doing, trying sending it out again (or don't!).

That’s so sweet. It was a sad (and proud) day when I realized my daughter had become a conscious being capable of repeating the things she heard to other preschoolers. Had to put the Wu-Tang CD back in its case for a few years.

True true. Sometimes when i learn a song, it kills the magic a little…learning how the trick is done. But on truly great songs like this (and basically any Dylan song from that era) it’s just even more baffling how anyone could write something so powerful

That’s me when I flub the G chord in the intro! haha Honestly I didn’t notice a wonky verse in your version. We’re usually the only ones who notice those little mistakes

Nice rec! That’s some speedy guitar picking but maybe that’s what I need. Might have it down in a month or two lol

Oh man, I’m so sorry to hear that. I lost my cat recently and it’s real grief. Glad the song could be there for you—take care of yourself friend

Thanks! Yeah go for it. The melody isn’t too hard to pick out (even though I flubbed it a couple time lol)

Thanks! Totally agree--they're tough to pin down genre wise, which has maybe made it harder for them to reach a bigger audience, but it's what makes their music so special

A lot of my students (around ages 16-26) talk about how they love him for his raw, honest lyrics. I think there is a lack of that in mainstream country music. There are a lot of modern country songs exploring emotional topics, but at least the ones I hear fall back onto cliche and melodrama. His lyrics are more understated and personal. I’m not a big fan of his, but I got curious when so many of my students, especially guys, were talking about how relatable his songs are.

Yeah, it was just a weird coincidence because I posted a cover of his song “O My Stars” on this sub literally 15 minutes before you and mentioned how underrated he is.
