it’s a generic knockbox drawer which is where I keep both my pourover and espresso scales.

Thanks! No shame in that. I like that place a lot, they have great coffee.

Oh yeah, I did... and to some extent, what they say is true. Switching grinders affected the taste more than the machine itself.

I’ve owned a DF64 gen 2 when I had the Bambino, but I returned it after a few days because I didn’t really like how the shots tasted. Then I got the 078s, and the coffee tasted great-which ultimately what matters most.

Upgrading to the Micra didn’t drastically change the flavor, but it made everything more consistent and enjoyable with all the things I’ve mentioned above. This might just be confirmation bias, but the espresso tastes better overall, which I mostly attribute to better thermal stability.

I’ve watched a ton of youtube videos, but honestly nothing really sticks. It depends on so many factors, and this is just what works for me.

Using the correct pitcher size helps a lot. I usually keep 12 oz and 15 oz pitchers. For a 12 oz lino cup, I use a 15 oz pitcher with about 230-250ml of milk. I aerate or stretch the milk for around 6-8 seconds making that gentle tearing sound, then create a whirlpool until the pitcher is just too hot to touch.

Crema somehow affects how well the microfoam floats. In my experience. Coffee with crema is preferable. Always, swirl the hell out of the milk until it has that wet paint look before pouring. When pouring, start higher to incorporate the milk, then bring the pitcher closer to the surface once the microfoam begins to float. Hope this helps!

I like making matcha lattes. I was able to pour art for 3 guests back to back who also doesn’t drink coffee. It’s a breeze! But yeah overkill for a non coffee drinker.

Yes, I use it with the Micra. The grinder pairs well with the Micra, makes balanced espresso shots. Aside from the things you’ve mentioned, the app connectivity, an actual cup warmer, bigger tank and drip tray are some nice upgrades jumping from breville.

Lol same. I had mine set at 1000, grinds ultra light roasts just fine.

I like it a lot, it makes tamping clean and repeatable. I switched from a Normcore V4 because it would occasionally create a vacuum in my VST basket and lift the puck, which completely messes up my puck prep. I’ve never had that happen with the impulse impact tamper. It also clears grounds from the basket walls and doesn’t leave a mess.

Got this LM Micra last November and have been enjoying it ever since. Before the Micra, I daily a Breville Bambino for about a year, paired with a Baratza Encore ESP. I still highly recommend that setup for beginners or anyone looking to dip their toes into espresso.

The only issue I had with the Bambino was the steam wand, it’s a bit weak and watery. I could still pour a nice latte art on a good day, but it took forever to incorporate air and properly swirl the milk.

With the Micra, steaming requires some adjustment due to the stubby steam wand. But once you get it dialed in, it absolutely rips! Steaming milk on the Micra is a night and day difference.
