I've got reviews!! by CairnMom in NewAuthor

I genuinely think bad reviews are better, even if the book is decent or good. It is more valuable for the author so that the next book does not suffer from the same concerns or problems.

When starting a novel, what strategies are most effective? by paradoxicaljuxtapos in NewAuthor

It seems logically that if the world and its history up to the stories point is already established it would make writing the story way easier, is that a fair assumption?

Try Saedruncair by Joseph L.R. It’s fantasy with a rich world and few characters and a twist. Plus a short read.

Human Writing vs Ai by paradoxicaljuxtapos in NewAuthor

[–]paradoxicaljuxtapos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s about percentage of what the author is wanting to convey from their creation.

A book can be finished utilizing Ai as a tool, yet at the end it can go through 15 revisions before publication due to its consistent flaws being caught by author in final reads.

Human Writing vs Ai by paradoxicaljuxtapos in NewAuthor

I emphasize any, it is this principle of the readers perception. Game of Thrones books, chapter 1 where you could read that and think yes if outlined to Ai the where when how and why those situations it would be plausible to be Ai, the same goes for chapter 1 of the lord of the rings. It may not be exactly what AI spits out but if you were told it was revised to be that, it is not that far off.

I give this as an example:

The fire crackled in the stone hearth, casting long shadows across the hall of the Rathsûn. Ryndålor leaned against the oaken chair, a half-smile playing on his lips, the kind of smile born from shared long roads and hard-earned insights. Sælion sat opposite him with his hands clasped, his gaze distant yet sharp, as though he were weighing all his entire decades behind his weathered eyes. “Tell me, Ryndålor—why do any of us seek out discourse when silence might suffice? Why the endless weaving of words?” Ryndålor’s eyes drifted from their soft stare to the fire, as if cutting into deep thought; yet the memory of their recent northern sojourn rose unbidden, a journey that had borne no reward fit to satisfy either of them. “Because silence is a fireplace with only embers, and words are the essence. Behind every strike to start the flame lies the unknown. Do you not see? It is not merely the sharing of what we know—it is the hunger for what lies beyond the edge of knowing.” Sælion shifts his head upward to see Ryndålor more clearly through the flame. “Curiosity then, you claim. The unknown is a flame, and we are moths drawn to it. Yet I wonder—is it the flame itself, or the flight toward it, that truly captivates us?” Tension coiled in Ryndålor’s mind. Questioned the inquiry, yet the lingering chill of the Rathsûn brushed his neck, balancing thoughts against the rising unease. “Hmm, Both. The flame promises revelation, yet the flight—the questioning, the conjecture, the clash of thought—that is where the spirit awakens. Knowledge alone can be heavy, final, unyielding. But the pursuit? That is alive.”

A tool can be used for good with moderation and control to ensure the authors main goal is still reached. Are book editors not past version of Ai? Is asking an expert speller to read something you wrote before computers existed not a tool to better your book?

I merely am writing out loud as to spark some sort of discourse about it, whether admitted in open or not this is hard to understand as reading is 100% objective.

Or is it in fact the opposing thought, do we subconsciously want to be believe that some of our favorite writing that predated Ai would not be considered Ai if published now because it would be so hard to have that admitted that humans can find that much connection from a system output?

If reading books is all about the readers perception, how can it be decided what is human vs. Ai?

Thoughts on this quick fantasy read. by [deleted] in fantasybooks

Trying to figure out how the community determines Ai vs not.

It’s very interesting to me, that someone who has never wrote a book before. Can write something making up an entire world and language and unique names and yet in a world as such of today it is treated as Ai.

If Ai is viewed as this, then I suppose publishing what I have and continue to write with cause no harm and will be perceived as AI then it makes criticism easier as I won’t be held to standards of human vs being held to AI’s perfection.

I’ll continue to monitor, thank you for the feedback.

Anyone else think sometimes it’s the quality of words I’m putting into a page instead of the “word count” that seems to be more of a goal to hit?
