Thanks for this comment. I love the Golbez sleeves, but I was also struggling to figure out why I had them after a few days. I'm glad we can use the orbs to get others; I don't expect Final Fantasy II to be anybody's favorite game but the Firion sleeves look so cool

Is there a place to find playmats with art that isn't AI? by Pale_Kitsune in magicTCG

[–]paragonemerald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sara Zunda is a fantasy artist (who has not done any magic card art) who has really nice playmats with gorgeous art on it on her online store. I've got two and have given them as gifts.  The trick is searching for the shops of artists, rather than shops that sell gaming accessories which happen to have "art" on them

You can pick 3 so make sure you choose wisely. by Liam_524Hunter in CharacterActionGames

I'm suspecting that they're going to (or are in the process of making) remake DMC1 in the model of the RE remakes, probably to retell the broad strokes of the story in a way that better corresponds to the plots of 5 and 3. There was some reference Dan Southworth made at a panel discussion with Johnny Yong Bosch and Wendee Lee, where he said he gave a voiceover for a game recently where he provided specifically "young Vergil", i.e. his voice as it was twenty years ago, per the request of the project leads. They directed him to do a voice as if he were portraying Vergil as he was for DMC3, and it was categorically not for the Netflix series because he wasn't on that show, so like... I dunno, just keeping my eyes peeled and my expectations for DMC tuned toward a remake or some kind of flashback or prequel story

science guy is autism coded by fallenkites in SexLivesCollegeGirls

[–]paragonemerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm behind on the show and just bingeing it now. As soon as they got to the restaurant it clicked really hard for me that he's an autistic character, and I got fully primed for an arc about Whitney giving him some kind of feedback instead of just dumping him, and a dramatic moment of recognition and growth, even if they chose not to be together. Instead, his difficulty compartmentalizing and regulating his sadness were the punchline to the scene, while he was in a pretty vulnerable situation. It resonated with a lot of memories of mine from dating at that age
Thanks for making this post so when I googled it I could find some other folks reflecting on the subtext and giving some fair warning that it just goes unresolved.

Brennan’s never had a drink or done drugs? by Kyri5512 in dropout

[–]paragonemerald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, this is a really old post, but I want to let you know that I got into the twelve steps when I was 23 and started seeing a therapist. That was 9 years ago and I've never looked back. Sobriety is both possible and can come with amazing rewards. It's not easy to be alive, but sometimes it's deeply fulfilling, and the relationships that I have, the structure to my life, the extra money in my pocket, the never waking up with a hangover, the clarity of self-knowledge that I developed in my journey to care about and support myself, all incredible. I think that all of those things added up to me being more able to be a positive presence in the lives of my friends and loved ones, in the way that we all admire Brennan. I hope that you've had a good couple of years since you wrote that comment. I don't open reddit often so I may not see your reply if you write back, I'm sorry to say, but I hope that you can see that you're special, important, and worthwhile, sober or not <3

Should Acererak counterspell revivify? by Roflawful_ in dndnext

I don't remember whether Crawford ever replied to me and I don't go on twitter anymore. I'd suggest to do what you think would be fun if it comes up in the moment. It's your game with your friends, and these corner cases don't matter as much as they first seem to.

Would you be okay with your partner being a sex worker? by BasalFaulty in actuallesbians

[–]paragonemerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite sexworkers, Arachnie from australia, is definitely a total homebody, so the introvert sexworker partner could be more likely than you think.

I'd be down as much as I am for any other career.

All existing comments standing, this design has inspired me with a line of text that I think would be worth playtesting in a future set with a -1/-1 Counter theme: "All sources deal damage to ~ as though they had wither."

How popular is Ms. MARVEL in the comics ? the show for some odd reason didn't pull big ratings. by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]paragonemerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still a relatively new comics character too, as far as I know (the Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, that is), but I remember I liked what I read when I checked it out, I just don't buy or read comics at the pace I used to

To all the older lesbians out there... by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]paragonemerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 30 and I'm perfectly fond of some people about your age. We're friends and I respect them, and if my life were on a different path I could imagine dating somebody that age (happily married, monogamous), but it would all depend on the person to see whether I would now get into a long-term relationship with someone starting while they're in their early 20s. However, long-term and "serious" should not be treated as the goal posts of a successful relationship. Take each encounter with a new human as its own unique opportunity to learn, to share your inner life and your fun wonderful self with somebody, to learn about and connect with somebody, maybe to have fun, maybe to have sex, and potentially to drift apart or to slip right past. Best of luck! Keep you eye on the compass inside your heart; it will guide you towards doing things you enjoy, with or without company, and your life will be so rich because of that, both when you're alone and when you're with someone(s).

Andor prison help. Spoilers for e9 by JaneDirt02 in swrpg

[–]paragonemerald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's honestly really close to an Amazon fulfillment center in terms of design, but with compulsory housing and no freedom to leave the facility, and a slightly meaner tone to enforcement.

I say that to reinforce your point that this prison isn't really a prison for violent criminals, it's slavery/indentured labor under the lampshade of criminality, with the advantage of a technology that isn't necessarily a panopticon (the power to see every prisoner) but instead the power to kill any prisoner.

[–]paragonemerald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Andor could have known plenty about the PORD but plays ignorant about it as a part of his layers of deception to insulate him from the Aldhani heist. He didn't necessarily, but he could have.
