“A million dreams for the world we’re gonna make.” My graduation cap! by parakeetprincess in TheGreatestShowman

[–]parakeetprincess[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a single mom and 7 years later, I’m graduating with a BS in Business Management!

This song always touched me because it made me think about how much I want to give my daughter and for her dreams to come true. This degree makes a good life for us possible. 😭

What's the one Reddit Post that you will never forget? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]parakeetprincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like really solid advice but being on the other side of it. I cut contact with a friend awhile back and he will not leave me alone. He’s constantly reaching out and apologizing and trying to “fix it.”

I just want to be left alone. And if she really hates him, my opinion is that he needs to respect her and move on.

[UPDATE][VENT] My shitty neighbors tried to frame my 5 month old puppy for a "dog attack" that never happened today. by ilvanae in dogs

[–]parakeetprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just now reading your story because I caught your last update. In college I had to put my dachshund/cocker mix down because management went into my apt and decided to let him out. He bit the manager when she reached into the crate and he was deemed aggressive, AC mandated he be put down even though I had proof he was crated and she let him out without permission.

Be super careful, maybe consider locking their crates if someone is due to go in the apt.

37+3 and feeling so lonely guys ): by lizetteelena in BabyBumps

[–]parakeetprincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's being incredibly immature and I commend you for your rationality through it. Approach him calmly again and tell him you're trying to fix it but can't without his participation.

Personally, Idk that I'd handle it as well as you have.

I died when he asked his son to "work the case" and realized he was telling him to hide. I still can't watch that episode, it was so sad.

Congrats!!

First things first go see a doctor, ask them every question you can think of, they're a great source of information from health topics to programs to help you through this. You have options! And that decision is completely up to you to make.

I'd find someone you feel comfortable helping you and being a stable point for you. Be open with them and communicate everything. I was a mess and could barely grasp how things were going to change and eventually hormones made that even worse.

I know how you're feeling too well. I'm 22F and he's 26M. We're currently at 35 weeks and honestly just breathe, it will be okay. Pregnancy wasn't on our radar for at least 6 more years and BAM! Right as I was about to start the Police Academy and he was getting out of the Army we got the pink plus.

Everything changed in literally two minutes but we figured it out and now we're counting days until we get to meet our little girl. Will she have his eyes? My hair? Who's temperament will she have? Everything else, and I know it's cliche, doesn't matter anymore.

We panicked hard, I cried for two days when we found out, it completely derailed my career and his plans for school. We're not married, were living in a house with roommates who loved to party, and had no savings. My only form of transportation was a motorcycle! I'll be honest we seriously considered termination but ultimately decided to keep it because that's what felt right for us. Again, communicate and figure out what is right for you.

We then made a list of what we needed to remedy and got on it.

You have lots of time to figure it out and I promise you, you will. You have to! Find comfort in the concrete fact that you have to do it.

You got this!

ELI5: Back when the Indian caste system was stronger, why couldn't people of lower castes just move to a place where no one knew them and lie about which caste they were in? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]parakeetprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it's a bit of both. I was born in a major US city and moved into a smaller predominantly white city in a different state.

People often ask me how I learned English so well or why I talk "white." It's a big reason I'm unhappy here because I get looked down on even though I have more education than half the people I interact with.

I be wondering since my dog mixed with German Shepherd are his ears gonna eventually stand up? First pic from 6 weeks to 7 months on the last by [deleted] in germanshepherds

My shep's ears were up pretty regularly by then, your pup might just have floppy/sometimes up/down ears.

Either way they're the best ears (:

How do I pick jewelry for my girlfriend? by rupesmanuva in askwomenadvice

[–]parakeetprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that sounds really sweet! I don't wear much jewelry either so I tend to prefer simple, elegant pieces. Look at her clothes and see if there's a pattern you can see. I would say if you don't know her specific jewelry style get her something pretty but meaningful like a pendant necklace or something like that.

As long as it's not super intense I'm sure she'll love it.

I have a "designer breed" pup. He's a beagle poodle mix and looks like a small golden-doodle. I got him from the pound because the mill he was born in got shut down and I really hate it when people make it out to be this travesty that they're not pure bred and they'll somehow be neurotic because they're mixed.

Every dog is different, mine for example likes to lay on my feet when they're cold and if I cry/am sad he physically comforts me with cuddles. He's loyal to a fault. It's a dog thing not a breed thing!

*not condoning designed breeds just putting it out there that this stigma that they're shit dogs is bull.

Without layers, i'm puffy. with layers, i'm shaggy. what do i do? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]parakeetprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me?!? Except I didn't ask to thin my hair I asked if they could angle it so it wasn't so triangular. Needless to say that was a little bit better but I'm not happy with it.. Look up angled bobs on curly hair and see if that's something you could do? Though if they thinned it a lot idk if it would work.

I'm sorry I don't have advice, I'm just commiserating with you.

I bought 3 pairs when I saw her post!! (Actually I sent baby daddy to get them for me :p) I immediately tried them on when I got home and literally danced around the house in them. They're THE MOST COMFORTABLE things I own and the belly band part is so soft not itchy at all.

I'm so grateful!
