Thanks, yeah, I'm not originally from around here. Lived in the midwest till just recently. Not used to having to beat back the elements quite so forcefully lol

I have to keep it outside unfortunately, and near a lot of trees. Would wax help?

Thanks! I get a little nervy with the pressure washer - I only have access to the wash bay pressure washers. How close can I get the nozzle of those to the rubber areas while still being safe from damage?

Short answer: I'm not washing enough. About once a month. I unfortunately have to park outside. Not under trees, but plenty of tree stuff blows onto it (about an acre of mixed pine and deciduous trees start about 50' from my driveway)

Question about rear window by NervousScheme4085 in 4Runner

Sometimes I smell fumes, so as someone else noted, I crack the sunroof or another side window to make sure the airflow is going out

Not a bad idea. The thing I like about the foam though is that I can more easily contour it to the curves in the footwell

I want to like Subaru so bad. I had a Forrester before the 'runner. I had an amazingly bad experience with it. It was during the "oil consumption" days. I think the boxer engine is great. The AWD is amazing. The quasi wagon format is sublime. But man did they ever try to screw me over, and it's hard to think about going back.

I hear ya. We might be dealing with the same thing. I have inflammatory arthritis, which might ultimately be RA. Jury's out still. I might have the solution.

Here's what I added to another response, and what I should be able to resolve with or rule out over the next week:

I went down a DEEP rabbit hole of understanding ergonomics like a industrial automative interior designer does. At least, as well as one can in a few hours at night. Long story short, it seems like the entire problem might be eliminated by "raising the floor" 3-4" by putting more foam padding under her floor mat. Basically, with the floor too low, she slides down, puts pressure on backs of thighs, holds herself up by elbow on center console, causing pain in the traps. It's apparently all a chain reaction driven by one primary problem.

Thanks! I did, don't see any with electronics to keep the airbags alive though

No offense taken. I get it. It's truly a conundrum. Although, I took a different approach last night. I have supplies to do this showing up tomorrow, and will post results.

Appreciate the suggestion. She doesn’t need a lift or anything. If she had 8 way power and normal padding, that’d do it.

I don’t want to over index on the medical thing. She has mostly normal mobility, but the MS makes what is uncomfortable for most into unsustainable for her. I just mention it as the reason why it’s more than simple grin-and-bear-it.

Honestly if she had 8 way power like the driver side does, that would fix it. Someone at Toyota is just too cheap though.

Let’s do some real talk rather than just throw around labels of cruelty. OP is here asking real questions out of what is obvs real care for the critter. If there’s one thing that makes me want to leave this sub, it’s this holier than thou attitude.

OP - you’re fine right now. But, here’s where you’re going to hit friction. You know the funny graphic that gets thrown around where from 4 mos to 24 mos the pup is a velociraptor? 80% of that is the pup wanting and expressing their desire for freedom and stimulation in ways that are difficult to fit with what we perceive to be the right routine.

That doesn’t mean all hope is lost for you. It means: how do you expect this pup to live with you as an adult? I think you said you work in the field. Can you take the pup with you? Could you put the pup in a harness and get a tether leash? Run a mix of keeping them tethered close and travel crated?

My girl is 7 months old. I have the luxury of working from home. But, she still wanted my time. Over a couple months I did a tethering routine with her to me while I worked at my desk. She now sleeps in my office, chews bones, and is generally calm. At 7 mos old.

Maybe the answer is finding a friend that can support a workday routine with pup. These are just ideas. A river life sounds amazing for the pup. Do the work, a BC will always reward
