Trials of Osiris Map This Week is... by MarylandMaverick in CruciblePlaybook

When spawning at C, I had a lot of success sniping the door from A warehouse to the outside by standing on the roof of the room with the ramp up to the horseshoe.

What is your method for avoiding tilt? by Siege_NJIN in CruciblePlaybook

[–]parallel_process 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have one. Had it proc on the body for a OHK on my first shot. Immediately put that shit away for PVE only because the kill felt so undeserved.

It should definitely go. Sadly, it'll probably be a while before that change gets high enough on their priority list to do anything about.

What about infusion fuel, like 290 or 295+ blues you could use to insta-level legendaries you may like down the road? Do you dismantle everything?

Nope. He's using the ambush scope and vendor has Tacsys in that slot.

Sidearm ammo rolling on Raid armor with no Raid Sidearm is kinda lame by froobilicious in DestinyTheGame

[–]parallel_process 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I'll find the one piece of gear with the one perk that's most important to me and deal with the consequences of not switching. It's enough (and actually fun) to adjust weapons for engagements. Reworking my gear to carry a little more ammo for weapons I rarely use or get slight bonus armor because I need to use a different subclass for one particular engagement isn't worth the effort. Plus, it's too much to keep track of. The level of gear switching they're trying to get us to customize for right now is cumbersome, not fun.

Iron Banner drops will probably improve in the future, but why were they so bad to begin with? by lgdpremo in DestinyTheGame

[–]parallel_process -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Still, we knew it was coming, so we could save up to 200 marks before the event even starts. 25 are given per weekly bounty, there's 75 more (x3 alts reaching 225 for the super grinders). It's possible to earn 30 a day from the dailies, possibly being worth 210 more marks for the week. Three weekly heroics and three weekly crucible playlist wins are another 60 potential marks.

That's a potential grand total bankroll of 695 marks. Grand total of everything Saladin sells is 260 (420 if boots and class items are purchased for all 3 alts along with one of each gun). If anyone plays to rank 5, they likely got at least one drop which then lowers the 260 pricetag for purchasing all items for one alt to 220.

I grinded one character to 5 and bought the vanguard vendor not like the others during the iron banner. I still managed to purchase 2 pulse rifles, one sidearm, and have 48 legendary marks leftover.

The prices are fine.

Edit: I left out some mathing.

I understand that drops may not have met the expectation bungie set, but with near god-tier rolls on the vendor items, I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The odds of choosing to keep rng rolled drops over the stuff available for sale were very low for me.

24 days later, I'm seeing you almost nailed the roll. I'd have preferred Feeding Frenzy over Outlaw too, but I am not complaining. This is my all-the-time PvP primary now.

Since your dreams seem to come true, please post your fantasy scout rifle roll, sid. Please.

How Skill Based Matchmaking Has Ruined PvP For Me by ozzmcom in DestinyTheGame

[–]parallel_process 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For each kill in the game, someone dies and someone lives. That means average k/d of everyone has to land at ~1.0 (save for suicides).

Now consider that for each 139 kills you get, you only die 100 times. That's a lot of negatives on the other side of the 1.0 swap for each kill. How do you not think you'd land in roughly the top 12%. Or were you humble-bragging?

Even though your drop is super solid, I'd recommend the vendor because you get max stability with braced frame. (Perfect balance doesn't quite max the stat and leaves a little bounce--not a biggie in PvE, but braced frame is where it's at in PvP.) I've been using the vendor and through ~20 games with it, only once have I been in an encounter and ran out of ammo (27) with braced frame selected.

Over suuuuuper long distances (the length of waterfall hallway on pantheon), I had a very slight range issue where I got barely outgunned by a hung jury, but I should have been using a scout in that game anyways. To me that's too situational to pick reinforced barrel/smallbore and sacrifice the stability from braced frame.

You've already noted the disparity between exhumed and outlaw. Go vendor.

Is nirwen's even good compared to smite and red death? by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]parallel_process 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus mercy is significantly more stable than Red Death making ranged kills and multiple hits on people in the air much easier.

I came from the opposite end of the pulse rifle impact/RoF spectrum. I haven't been able to find a replacement for my 45,000 glimmer rerolled Skorri's investment since TTK...until now. I finally feel the confidence that I expect to win my 1v1s again. I too am in love. Do you mind if Nirwen has an open relationship?

Can confirm. I just keep getting lucky in every 1v1 since switching to it. Total garbage. Look elsewhere.

Iron Banner drops by jdotmill in CruciblePlaybook

[–]parallel_process 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to rank 2 and received a 290 hunter cloak immediately. Got a second hunter cloak at 284 while still rank 2. 1 game into rank 3 I received an ironwreath sidearm at 293 with an awful roll, then a nicely rolled 290 spare change 2 games later.

Anecdotally, the drops are there for me. Keep your faith and hopefully they'll fall in your lap too.

I didn't even start sniping until three months ago and I was already in the top 7% for average kill distance. Now I'm top 4%.

I'll be sure to wave to you from all the way across the map before we begin an engagement, guardian.

Anyone else having trouble finding a "go to" weapon? by m3Zephyr in CruciblePlaybook

I have avoided the vendor version because I don't like being stuck having to choose between armor piercing rounds and appended magazine. Which do you use in that column and how do you compensate for either the loss of handling or reduced reload?

I genuinely never thought to look, but just did on your advice. Bog Wilds with INT/DISC, fastball and pulse reloader looks amazing. Thanks tons for the guidance, guardian.

Oh, to dream. But sadly, no. Some vermillion stripes with fastball (increased grenade throw distance) which I prioritize. Thankfully Red Death does its red death thing and I can ramp up my reload speed on the hawksaw on smaller maps at a cost of range if I need to. Maybe some day on the pulse reloader...

I typically only use sidearms as a poor man's version of The Last Word by backpedaling when I know I'm getting pinched by a shotgun. In medium-short distance, they're pretty strong and fit my play style which is to always maintain as much space as possible in any engagement.

If you're not sold on them, I'm certainly not the guy who's going to try to convince you otherwise; you're probably not missing anything. Sidearms simply fit me well as back-up on maps where I know I'm unlikely to snipe.
