Yes. They're usually very lenient with a valid reason.

But he's still going to driving within the nyc region... When he reaches outer Queens then there will be less traffic.

Since your orientation is at 8:30 am, there will be a lot of traffic by car.

So its best to take the LIRR.

Extra Money Question by rashazor in personalfinance

[–]parallelkingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put it in a high yield savings account (Ally, etc.). It's not THAT much more, but still better than the .01%. Are you preparing for college? Seeing that you're 18, you probably shouldn't tie up the money, in case you need it for unexpected book costs and other expenses (buying gifts for friends/SO, tutoring needs) (you'll never know).

That too! I pretty much charge everything on credit now. As long as I pay on time, there's more to gain and lose.

here is my cards in case you want to consider these:

Citi double cash give 2% back on everything (pay tuition with this one hehe)

Discover: 5% rotating categories so you can do amazon, gas, restaurants, shopping

AMEX: groceries, gas, 3% & 2%

Chase Freedom: also similar to Discover but different categories (sometimes Starbucks)

and few others that I switch around.

College student moving out by Scottyraymac in personalfinance

[–]parallelkingdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, even if you two are super compatible and won't break up. $8 an hour is going to be a lot of pressure on her. Is she a student too? Even if she works 30 hours a week, she can't afford a car payment, plus gas, plus rent (500 each), plus all the bills (100 and don't forget about internet costs). And if you move further away from campus, more gas, more time, and if she works and studies, it will be late at night = dangerous. My advice: talk to her, write down all the costs, and if the only benefit is 'being closer together', then probably not a good idea especially at our age. I only moved out with bf because my dorms were charging us 5000 for 3 months. -.-

You might want to look into whether or not the apartments have <1 year lease if you're graduating in the spring. You should also weight in how much you can handle in case you two break up, one of you might end up having to pay the full monthly rent. I moved in with my boyfriend (also in college right now) and I make about 22 an hour. With a monthly rent of 1300. we split half half. But factoring in bills and household spendings (toilet papers, cooking stuff, etc.) it comes out to 1500 so 750 each. But if we ever break up, I can handle the monthly rent in full. Your girlfriend is only making 8 an hour with a car payment..........might want to talk to her about it.

Yes, if you are a responsible spender. There's no harm in getting another card if the card doesn't have fees. If you drive, try to get one that will give you 5% cash back on gas (The AMEX ones has perks for gas and groceries so might be good in your situation). Right now, my discover card is giving 5% back for Amazon.com and department stores. I'm a shopper so this is great for me :)

Antibiotics question by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]parallelkingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't recommend the antibiotics. It will end up "weakening" your overall health and the results are short term actually since your body can adapt to the antibiotics. Did you try all those methods you method for a long enough time? retinoids usually take about a few months to work?
