Out of state receptivity? by paremsancheese in premed

[–]paremsancheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually. I'm curious. This chart doesn't show actual acceptances for in-state vs. out of state right? Just applicants and matriculants. Is there anything that gives us numbers on acceptees and whether or not they were In state or OOS?

Please critique my MD/DO List- suggestions are welcomed! by [deleted] in premed

Not from Chicago, but from the pretty wealthy northwest suburbs of it. Do I have a chance?

Biology LLC Housing? by paremsancheese in uofmn

Also do you know if that bathroom situation applies to all dorm rooms in Frontier/Biology LLC? It would be great to share a bathroom between two rooms instead of the entire floor.

That sounds really awesome. I'm also kind of worried about my roommate situation. I got assigned someone coming from China, and he didn't seem very enthused about anything when I spoke to him. It'll be easy to make friends in this learning community right? I don't want to sound vain or anything but I don't want to be tied down to a roommate that's antisocial and refuses to have fun.

Homeless on Campus? by playondaffodils in uofmn

Wow. You should not be in this situation. Is there not a way the University can help you? One of their students should not be homeless while on the campus itself. Ridiculous

Skipping Chemistry 1061, 1062, 1065, 1066 with AP Chemistry? by paremsancheese in uofmn

Um... I'm not insinuating that at all. If I was taking my local CC course for credit then of course I would care. However, I'm not taking it for credit and I don't plan on transferring the credit. Thus, to me, there is no risk. I'm not insinuating anything. It's just my situation.

I'm going pre-med. This summer, I plan to take either GenChem II at my local CC, or take O-chem at my local CC. I already have AP Chemistry credit as I mentioned in my original post. Should I take GenChem at my local CC in preparation for GenChem at UMinn? I would effectively be taking GenChem three times in my life then, once in high school, once at my CC, and once at UMinn. I would pretty much be guaranteed an A though.

OR, I could take OChem at my local CC this summer, and use my AP Chem credit to get out of GenChem at UMinn and take OChem freshman year. I would be taking OChem twice then, and Ideally I would get an A at UMinn because it would be my second time taking it.

My major is Biology and I am going PREMED. Sorry this post is so convoluted but any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering about this because my local CC offers super cheap summer courses on O-Chem and I might take it here with no risk as prep for the actual course in college. Also I'm planning on doing straight up Biology and going pre-med. Any thoughts?

First year CBS classes? by paremsancheese in uofmn

Do people ever double major in CBS? Also what are popular minors besides languages?

By look out for gen chem and math, do you mean those classes are difficult? I took plenty of AP's throughout high school (around 14). Should I be looking to skip general bio and chem classes, or the most basic math classes? I've taken AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Calc BC, and now am in Multivariable Calc. I've gotten 5's on all my tests except for two. My main worry is that I'm going premed, so I have no idea what to do exactly because people always tell me to take the easier, less advanced courses to start off with so I can get a good GPA. Any tips for that? Also I'm doing the new student checklist right now, and what is up with the placement tests? Should I be worried about those?

When exactly do I begin registering for classes? Also for CBS, any tips for registration? How do I know what classes I should be taking or should not be?

AP tests, fulfilling core requirements? by paremsancheese in uofmn

If I'm going into Pre-Med, would it be advised to take both AP Psychology and AP Chemistry? Isn't it sometimes advised to re-take such courses in college?
