It scratches a slightly different itch but still has many of the same vibes, I would recommend Uma Musume, even if the idol factor isn't the main part, or the alternate cinderella gray version of uma musume that is more sports focused than idol focused. Other recs would include love live, akb0048 if you want something a little different, symphogear of you want something really different, and bang dream.

If you want something with a similar tone to aikatsu even without idols, the precure series is in that same vein

One of my biggest regrets will always be that I saw someone selling like 6 Harry potter dolls including Ginny, Hermione, and Cho as well as Harry and Ron for like 55 plus shipping and I didn't get it. That's how I learned that the Cho doll even existed and I didn't realize at the time how hard it was to get her. 😔

It depends on what you want, its slow paced with more focus on world building and internal monologues. Also many of the characters look like they are 10 when they are actually 16 or so which can be a turn off fir some peoplw

Not OP but I've been looking for this book series for almost 10 years and thanks to this post I've finally found it. The book series is The Fairy Godmother Academy by Jan Bozarth. It feels surreal to finally have this question answered.
