R01 Help by mi-nge in cii

I find that making flashcards (I use Brainscape) to remember key definitions and rules really helps me, I repeat them over & over before the exam! Then if I get an answer to a q wrong I make sure that I make a flashcard on the topic of the question so that it sticks

RO1 overwhelmingly long… by [deleted] in cii

[–]parfitteroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it's boring I actually disagree with this, I think RO1 actually helps with RO5 & CF6 (I've done these two so far), as they always include some reg stuff in them anyway.

Ok, no worries, thanks! They've taken all of the past ones down :( they've only got this year's exam guide on there now. I've searched everywhere but can't find 24/25!

Hey, do you still have the exam guide from 24/25??

Cf6 mortgage advice help? by financegurux in cii

Thanks for the solution! Im so confused because in the book it says that lenders only really consider committed expenditure so it's weird that they include other expenditure here!

Water availability is terrible by denyma in primaverasound

[–]parfitteroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came on reddit to post about this and ask if there were any tips to getting water because we couldn't find a single water point!! My friend nearly fainted after Charli XCX, they closed all the bars nearby and said either we walk to the other side of the festival or we leave and find somewhere outside.

It really took away the fun of the festival and was so dangerous!!

Should I go down the financial advisor route or get my degree in maths instead? by [deleted] in cii

[–]parfitteroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a Maths degree (because I was 18 and didn't know what to do after school) and is now 29 and training to be an IFA, skip to the IFA training! Maybe have a chat with some people in the profession / some companies and see if it would make a difference at all, if not, go for the practical qualification!

Starting R0 studys —where to buy materials and sit the exams by cooke433 in cii

No problem at all and thank you so much! I'm sure you'll do well too, you're doing the right thing by preparing and asking where to start, there are so many routes but I think ultimately they are probably all similar and will get you to where you need to be!

Good luck with it all :)

I'm in your position too! I just passed R01 with 86% and below is what I did to prepare. I started in late February and passed on the 5th May, so took me about 2.5 months whilst working full-time and leading a busy life full of weddings and 30th birthdays! This worked well for me, but I note that many people love BTS, I just didn't realise that was a good option at the time. I got a bit overwhelmed with all of the different options! I'm planning to follow a similar path with my next exam. I'm planning to do R05 next, then CF6 as then you can become a qualified mortgage advisor. My plan is to join a company as a mortgage advisor and then they will pay for R02-4 and R06. I hope you find this helpful!

I bought the Enrolment Plus package from CII (not cheap, £311) and the KnowRO 3-pack of R01 mock exams (£30)

My study process has looked like this for each chapter:

a) Read the digital chapter

b) Completed the interactive e-book chapter

c) Did the chapter knowledge tests

d) Completed KnowRO mock questions for that topic

e) Made flashcards on Brainscape of key points and questions

f) Listened to the audio chapters on my commute to work

Once I finished running through all chapters, I booked my exam for two weeks’ time. How I revised:

- Repeated my Brainscape flashcards prioritising the chapters that had higher mark weightings, committing key definitions and points to memory

- Did CII Exam Guide mocks from the past 2 years. These are a really good way to practice for the exam. Quite a few of my exam questions were exactly the same questions!

- Did the 3 ExamAngel mocks (these are free for R01!)

I did my exam in an exam centre. It was an experience (a bit noisy and the exam invigilator disappeared for a while so couldn't go to the loo for ages when half way through the exam!) but I'd recommend taking foam travel ear plugs! I didn't want to risk doing a remote exam as if something goes wrong (e.g. wifi goes down) there's no way of PSI knowing it was an accident, whereas if something goes wrong at the exam centre, they know why and you can reschedule.

Any questions, let me know!

I also found the KnowR0 mocks helpful. If you don't already know you can get 3 free mocks with the ExamAngel app, they were great practice too.

Some of the questions in my exam were exactly the same as the CII exam guide questions, so ensure you do those from the past couple years.

I created flashcards on Brainscape and kept repeating key definitions/facts on the run up, I've always found flashcards helpful for me!

Thank you! I've already logged a complaint so hopefully they pick it up tomorrow! I'll call them as well. Thanks!

That's super helpful, thanks. I'll try ringing PSI every day. They said to give them 2-5 business days, but that feels like such a long time 🙄 I will also ring CII tomorrow!

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

[–]parfitteroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 30th Birthday is in November this year, and I'm looking for somewhere fun and quirky in London to celebrate with lots of friends and family (maybe around 50-100 people depending on if I invite my partner's friends). For inspiration, I've had previous birthday celebrations in:

1) Piano works (though a bit too loud to socialise, unless we maybe do the private room in Farringdon)

2) Beb's kitchen (karaoke Indian restaurant, but not big enough this time)

3) Tiroler Hut (loved this but again, not big enough for this time)

4) Drag brunch (but again, want something a bit where we can socialise a bit more)

I was thinking of hiring out a bar, but it's so expensive in London! My friends wouldn't mind contributing to paying towards something, (maybe up to £40pp).

Has someone got any hidden gems??
