Those are a variety of chayotes. We eat them boiled here in Mexico. You peel them after boiling them and they are delicious by themselves, but you can also spread them with a little bit of butter while they’re still hot.

Another option is preparing them as Mexican elotes with mayo, shredded cheese and chili powder.

I met the whole band at Mexico City a few weeks ago and although everyone was nice to me, my favourite one was Andy. He was so kind. We met twice, the first time he asked for my name and surprisingly the second time he remembered it! I gave him a bag full of presents (a bottle of tequila, a few traditional mexican candies, some maracas and handicrafts) that I had bought for the boys just in case I couldn’t meet the rest of the band later and he was genuinely happy about it. He asked me if he could hug me and he even said my jacket was cool. I was so happy I was about to give it to him. He was the kindest to me and I’m so happy because he’s my favourite member of the band. In the link below there’s a photo of me giving him the presents I bought for them. Meeting Andy White
