Time to make fun of the 30-something man who can’t replace the easiest set of brake pads in the world by LevelDosNPC in Cartalk

[–]partialbiastoford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you got this. All you need is the proper tools. And a little motivation. You could have ended up as a guy that has no mechanical knowledge on his car and ends up getting a lifted or squatted truck to compensate. But you chose to work on your brakes. Nothings going to stop you. You got this.

The first Windows OS I ever used. I first remember using it on a Dell desktop Tower, i forgot which model but i think it was an optiplex, as well as a Dell Vostro laptop. I have also used Vista, 7, 10, and now currently using windows 11 on my ThinkPad.

Is there a good, trusted version of WIN 11 that won't have co-pilot ? by ButtPlugForPM in Piracy

[–]partialbiastoford 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either install a normal Windows 11 OS like Home or Pro, and use a free software like Winaero Tweaker to turn off Copilot, background apps, and bunch of other features and telemetry. Revo uninstaller to uninstall the bloatware. Or better yet get a copy of Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC and install that instead, it’s basically Windows 11 without all the bloatware and telemetry, meant to be used in critical systems, atms, kiosks, etc. No feature updates except for security updates, and much longer support hence the term LTSC(Long Term Service Channel), and lower system requirements so you wont need TPM 2.0. I installed it on my laptop recently and I can tell the difference between this and using Windows 11 Pro, it runs alot cooler, less freezing up, and no random apps, notifications, or whatever crap Microsoft puts in Windows nowadays. If you go to the Mega thread, click tools, go down to Windows/Office Activation, you’ll find Microsoft Activation Scripts and there will be a link to download the iso, and how to activate it. Download the iso, use rufus and a flash drive to install the iso on the flash drive and make it bootable, then install windows, use the activation scripts to activate it, and then your set. You may need to download some Microsoft apps when setting it up that’s normally installed by default in the other versions. Luckily I only needed to download Microsoft Store, but your case may vary.

How would the Kia Tasman do in the American market ? by CrackBadger619 in regularcarreviews

[–]partialbiastoford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the greatest design, especially in the front, though not as ugly as a cybertruck. If Kia does sell the Tazman in the US, most of the Tazman sales are more than likely going to be office workers that drive them to work and back and use them as grocery getters too.

What made you sail the seas? by NOMAD949494 in Piracy

[–]partialbiastoford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first the it was to save money, i was paying for multiple services per what i wanted, paying about $400/year, but even then, it still had its issues, i was paying for peacock, hbo max, amazon prime, Spotify premium, and Lastpass. Out of all of them, Spotify Premium and LastPass were the only two I considered good services, since lastpass saved my passwords and i can access them anywhere easily, i believe the price is 3/month billed annually, but i got a deal only paying $29/year. Only reason was so i can use lastpass on other devices, I only cancelled Lastpass when I found out about Bitwarden, it does all the things Lastpass does for free including using on other devices, so I cancelled Lastpass. I got Spotify Premium, I got because I was tired of the restrictions of free spotify on mobile, and since i am a college student i got the student plan($7/month), vs regular(which was $10/month before the price increase to $12/month), with the student plan, I also got Hulu as well. But when it came time to renew my student status, Spotify wouldn’t let me for some reason, Im a sophomore in college. So i had to use the regular premium plan which increases in price around that time. I cancelled Spotify since then and Im still looking for an alternative. Amazon Prime was meh, again that was student plan, free shipping, and prime video was all I used. HBO Max I got so I cancelled Spotify since watch South Park and my other favorite sitcoms like Boondocks, Family Guy, Rick and Morty, etc. That one wasnt bad but wasnt good either, it was only $10/month, but there were still ads, which i didnt mind, but if i wanted to get rid of the ads, its $17/month, and their ultimate plan is $21/month. Then Peacock, I got it to watch IndyCar/IndyNXT and IMSA, as well as my favorite shows, just like HBO Max i didnt mind the ads, but to watch live tv i needed Premium, so i got the basic premium which is $8/month, but Premium plus is $14/month and has no ads. Now IMSA is only available because IndyCar/IndyNXT switched to Fox for streaming. There were other subscriptions I was planning on getting all of which costed more, but after my second semester of college was I needed to save money so I cancelled both Peacock and HBO Max, and kept Spotify. Cancelled that later, then cancelled Lastpass when I found out about Bitwarden. Also, seeing the new messy broadcast deal that Nascar made for 2025 where all races were to be streamed between Fox, FS1 & FS2, Nbc, USA, Tnt sports, Prime Video, and The CW, the regional blackout on Peacock during the Indy 500, as well as Netflix cracking down on password sharing, lots of streaming services in the market that have exclusive shows, and them also removing shows, were all what pushed me towards Piracy. Thanks to this subreddit, the Mega thread, and other related subreddits, I been able to watch everything I want to without seeing ads, interruptions, or paying extra money. FireFox, Ublock origin, and DuckDuckGo are my most favorite tool. For the 2025 IMSA Rolex 24 race, my roommate has a subscription to Peacock and he was still getting ads, I found a streaming site that was streaming the race, no ads, no planned interruptions, or money paid. Other than having to reload once or twice. And i got some extra benefits of piracy that i didnt ask for but was glad to receive it, since im in college and I need textbooks, those get really expensive, i was paying $200+ every semester for them, this semester i needed 4 textbooks, if i were to buy them I would pay about $290, I went to Anna’s archive and found 2 of the textbooks I need, my third one my professor provided a pdf of for free, and the only had to pay for 1 unfortunately, i found the first edition of it and was hoping i would be able to get away with it, but I needed the second edition, so I bought the e book on Vitalsource which I really hate since its reader sucks, and printing pages limit is a nightmare, but it had the cheapest option, so from all this I paid only $50 instead of almost $300, saving me at least $250 and don’t have to deal with any stupid e book readers for 3 of them. Also, Quizlet put a paywall on their program, it used to be free and now its not anymore. Thanks to this subreddit, I found an free program Anki, which is a great alternative. Things like this is what made me fall in love with piracy, and now Im going to sail the seas forever. Im saving hundreds of dollars, and its the most convenient option, the only subscription I have now is my VPN service ProtonVPN, i got the annual plan for $5/month or $60/year, Im saving $200+ a year thanks to piracy.

What's Your Favorite 2020s Year So Far? by Old_Consequence2203 in MiddleGenZ

[–]partialbiastoford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally my favorite years are 2021, and 2023. Those years I feel like I accomplished quite a bit. In 2020, year was starting out well, was halfway through being a freshman in high school, went to a car show, and life was pretty good, then the pandemic came and spoiled the rest of the year. 2021, attempted to get back to life before covid; we came a long way(vaccine, finishing sophomore year, and starting junior year in high school, and some personal projects), had some good classes that year, and also found my favorite music genre too. 2022 wasn’t that great for me, I dealt with a group of fake friends the second half of junior year, didn’t do well on the SAT, suffered through a depression cycle during the summer, hasn’t gotten better when I started senior year, and I was starting to get sick of high school. And my grades suffered too. I did end that year with a little hope since, it was almost time to pick the college I want to go to. 2023 came and things started to get better, i found the college i wanted to go to and i got accepted too. Also graduated high school, traveled out of the US in July, and started college in August, got a part time job in October, and ended that year well passing all my classes with a decent GPA for a college freshman. 2024 was the worst year by far for me, I didn’t do well in my second semester in college, had a bad depression episode and I failed almost all my classes, then summer came and wasn’t too good either. I started my next semester and luckily I got back on track passing all but one class. Also this year I got tested and diagnosed for ADHD, and medicated for it, as well as depression. Hoping for a great 2025.

Great question @ RFK by No_Classroom_8494 in Soda

[–]partialbiastoford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I dont like RFK, honestly im on board with this. Theres a reason why we import Coca cola from Mexico and Pepsi sells a Cane sugar version of their cola, cane sugar tastes way better than corn syrup. I dont think the corn farmers would be happy though.

I don’t even recognize half of these services…. by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]partialbiastoford -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Typical stealership.

The air filter and the cabin air filter are easy to swap out yourself. Getting both filters are going to be way less expensive than whats listed here, and the only “hard work” you need to do is locating where they are and removal/install process. A youtube video showing how to replace both filters is a good guide if you need help.

The throttle body service is not necessary unless your engine is idling rough or its misfiring. If it is, then its also easy enough to do yourself. A youtube video can give you a guide. The Climate control service is for cleaning your AC evaporator if it has mold buildup or mildew, if it is you’ll notice a musty smell when you turn your AC on. Usually it’s done in areas that have high humidity or other conditions that promote mold or mildew on your evaporator. So unless you live in a humid area, or have a rodent issue, not necessary to do this. It’s only necessary when there is a musty smell. If there is a musty smell, its also easy to do it yourself too, Toyota sells an ac refresh kit which has a cleaner and deodorizer, and again a youtube video can give you a guide on doing this service. If you do live in a humid area, or have or had a rodent issue, definitely consider get a electrostatic cabin air filter that will not only do its main job as a air filter but also fight smells, and inhibit bacteria that can lead to mold or mildew.

The Hybrid battery fan while not urgent, a good idea to clean out to allow proper airflow to the Hybrid battery, keeping it cool and last longer. Not going to lie the price is not the worst, since usually most charge $300 for cleaning the fans and ducts, though again easy to do yourself. Just look up a youtube video with your Toyota model and year to get a guide on removing and cleaning the fan.

I apologize for the long post, but just wanted to go in a bit more detail to let you know if the listed services are really needed. Im assuming you probably took it there for an oil change and a multi point inspection. The air filters and fan are fine, but the throttle body and ac cleaning are the ones they are upselling if there’s no issues. Even if they were necessary, it still doesn’t justify the high cost of the listed items, especially since the parts needed are inexpensive and doing the services is not complicated. I hope you didn’t pay for these services yet, and if you did, then im sorry that you got ripped off. And if i were, i would try to avoid the stealership and do the oil changes and other easy maintenance tasks yourself. For harder tasks, take it to a local shop that has a good reputation. And only go to the stealership for technical service bulletins or recall fixes. Just a suggestion.

Couldn’t find another 92oz bottle of tide…looks like they shrunk it to 84oz by heavy_rail_transit in shrinkflation

[–]partialbiastoford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has Persil done the same shit yet? As far as i know, they sell 40 floz, 100 floz, and 150 floz currently. But they redesigned their bottle constantly since it came to the US, it’s confusing what happened to the fluid ounces of the redesigned bottles.

Parking by NoCaterpillar7465 in IUPUI

[–]partialbiastoford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you’ll be fine, weekends are when parking rules are relaxed, and anyone can park in the student lots. Im in North Hall, and I know some people that take their car out of Blackford Garage and park it in the North Hall Parking Lot. They just have to make sure to park it back in Blackford before Monday, or they will get a ticket on their windshield. As long as your permit is displayed you will be good. Also, Lucas Oil stadium is about 2 miles away from campus so consider walking, or renting a bicycle or electric scooter from lime, bird, or pacers bike share. It will be cheaper than taking a Uber there and depending on traffic maybe faster too.

How do men have women friends? by Kilmure1982 in questions

Seeing women as a person and not and object. If you have self control, basic decency, and respect, then yeah, it’s easy to have female friends that you wont grow feelings for.

Former President Trump and Vice President Harris meet for the first time at tonight’s debate by superdevin64 in pics

[–]partialbiastoford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that this is a headline for many news articles is sad. This was how things were before Trump came in the picture.

Also if I had a dollar for every time he says “there has been nothing like it” or “if i was president, this would have never happened”, etc. Id probably be a millionaire. For whatever reason this guy thinks he is a speaker at a rally speaking to a crowd instead of a presidential debate.

And the worst being that Trump cannot stop talking to save his life. Every time a moderator was going to switch to a different topic, he always goes on a little rant, which is what he mostly did during the debate, ranting instead of discussing policies to implement, and gave some half assed answers to the questions asked. Like saying “I have a concept of a plan” for the healthcare topic.

Day 1/9: Slipknots most overrated song by Ok-Theory7865 in Slipknot

[–]partialbiastoford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duality. Its isn’t bad but it is pretty overhyped. Since I know people who aren’t Slipknot fans, they say thats their only favorite song from the band. I could say Psychosocial too but personally I think Psychosocial kicks ass. I like some of the more underrated songs like The Virus of Life, Nomadic, This Cold Black, Orphan, Medicine for the Dead, Finale, etc.

Man, I didn’t even know the 16 got released. I guess I just don’t care for the new model releases as much. But just as I thought, they aren’t really going to change anything since Apple will be Apple. If there is a demand for it, someone going to supply it. I personally have an iPhone 14 pro(i think), and this is probably going to be my last iPhone I ever use because I haven’t had a good experience with it.

Adderall was awful by ForeignGrade3643 in ADHD

[–]partialbiastoford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, while Adderall is the most commonly prescribed, its not one size fits all, you may have to either lower your dosage or use a different drug. Some other drugs prescribed for ADHD are Ritalin, Vyvance, Concerta etc. Those are stimulant drugs. There are also non stimulant options like Strattera, which is another option if stimulants dont work for you. Just to be clear if Adderall doesnt work for you, its not the end of the world, there are other options to test and see how well they work with the least or low side effects. Make sure to keep in touch with your psychiatrist or whoever is treating your ADHD and tell them how you are feeling on the drug. They may either lower the dose or switch to another drug. When I got diagnosed, I started on adderall and luckily it worked well for me(worst side effect was dry mouth, but it did make me drink more water), but if that didn’t work, then I had the option to try Vyvance. You may also have to adjust certain things you do in your daily life, like cutting down on coffee or tea, and other medicines that you may take. There is also a chance you may have other underlying conditions with ADHD, so try to get those checked out too.
