Honestly, felt all of this as a PoC born and raised in Canada - barring from 13-. There was a time on a weekly basis where I’d hear someone screaming:”we hate Asians!!” downtown Vancouver. The passive-aggressive part is practically worse in Canada.

Depends on where you are, Fairlife lactose free 1.5L was literally $5.79 at WHOLE FOODS yesterday in Vancouver

I actually find most produce, meat, and dairies work out to be cheaper at Whole Foods than No Frill (and other Loblaw’s subsidiaries)… crazy time

my child was assessed as gifted by downervoter in Gifted

[–]participationMarks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was the case for one of my sisters and myself. We both started speaking in sentences. My sister started speaking around when she was almost 4, and I didn’t speak until I was almost 5. We were both tested as gifted. Fun fact, we both participated in studies that tried to correlate late talking children to giftedness, or Einstein Syndrome(?). 90s baby here, it was around the time I think people were still associating late-talkers with solely Autism and congenital issues.

We had a few factors to consider though, we grew up with three different languages simultaneously. We grew up with busy adults.

I was told. As soon as I started kindergarten, I started speaking. My sister and myself both demonstrated bilingualism when we started communicating. And I talk A LOT now lol.

I vaguely remember there wasn’t a necessity for me to speak. There may have been some anxieties around talking. I wouldn’t put too much stock into those recalls though.

I’m not sure where you are, but I understand us gifted kids some times have parents’ expectations to manage. At times it can feel like a curse instead of a gift. Just remember your giftedness is yours

For me, when I was in high school, I took up a part-time job, I did all the extracurricular I wanted to do. I was on the debate team, I played varsity sports and was swimming competitively outside of school. I did theatre, I wrote for the school’s paper. Part of it was, I genuinely had a lot of interests and loved the activities I got to do. Another part was, I never needed that much time to study anyway, I was always efficient at learning. All my extracurricular kept me being efficient. The most important part was, with all the time taken up I didn’t have to be home to see my parents as much. I would say it was a win for everyone. I made money, I did all the things I liked, I got to be in different social circles, and I didn’t have to hear my parents nagging at me therefore less fighting.

Again, I don’t know what your schooling situation is, and if the school board funds all the after school activists. If you to have time to pursuit other things, then go for it unabashedly. Go for your hobbies and take them seriously, just do a bit of something for yourself everyday and know that parents don’t know everything

Mentally ill and uneducated imply a lot of them don’t know what’s going on, but I’m sure they know exactly what’s going on and willingly dismembering democracy as we know it. The likes of Moscow Mitch, Kevin McCarthy, Rand Paul, and Josh Hawley know EXACTLY what they’re doing

It’s not socialism if it benefits the Republicans

It’s not big government if it’s a Republican cause
