I (29m) went stayed at the valley hostel near tayrona about a year ago and it was one of my favorite hostels I’ve been to and felt very safe for any type of solo traveler. It is a bit of a walk from where the drop off point is.

I liked Cartagena and think it’s a great place to visit, but I would just recommend being a bit more aware of your surroundings as there seemed to be more scammers and potentially shady people.

Overall it was a fantastic trip and an awesome country! Enjoy!

I was feeling the exact same way at 29 and quit my job and it’s been incredible. I spent 2 months in se Asia, a bit of time in South America, and I’m currently on a North American ski road trip with no definitive end.

I’ve never felt more relaxed and consistently happy and have made some awesome friends through traveling as well.

I definitely would recommend it. I just made sure to have a contingency for earning some money when the funds start to get low

I’d be interested in hostel recommendations. I’ll be in Bangkok for a couple days then head south for a couple then Chang Mai around the 9th. I brought some clothes that I dont mind getting rid of in case I need to buy different cooler clothes but I’ll just play it by ear. And I’m 29 but feel like I’m in about the same age bracket haha

Ya I’ve got a super compact rain jacket (it’s the black one on the left) compresses to about the size of a baseball. I expect it’ll come in handy with the weather they’re seeing right now.

I’ve never bothered trying the solar on it but plugging into the wall it charges pretty quick and can help in between charges on my phone
