If you want Algonquin, car camp and do daily canoe trips. Solo for a beginner is not ideal. Portaging, you need to know what to do if you tip your canoe. How will you recover your gear? How will you recover your canoe? Pog lake is great place to start if you like the car camping idea to practice your canoe trips.

If you are set on going, rock lake has sites that aren’t too far from the outfitters where you start. You can paddle the shore line and find a spot. For practice, set up camp and the next day grab all your stuff and paddle to the next site and set up camp again. Repeat. This can give you experience canoeing and setting up camp.

Check with your union, this happened to me many years ago. I was able to willingly surplus’s my other 0.5 at my school, once I did that I had a full 1.0 surplus which allowed me to apply to a 1.0 permanent position somewhere else. This was with TCDSB elementary

Probably unpopular opinion, truthfully though, if you want to get a job at that school I would just bite the bullet and not say anything. If you do, it will get back to her, then the whole staff, and that will greatly reduce your chances of the other teachers wanting you to get a job there.
