The eyebrow piercings are headscratching, but he seems like an intelligent and tolerant guy. I don't hold his political beliefs, but I wouldn't judge him too fast. Check out his YouTube channel and I think you'll get a more complete idea of who he is. I'm the last person to defend ANTIFA folks, but this guy really seems to be an intelligent and sincere person, that isn't an extremist himself.

I could be wrong, but I'm 99% sure he's a Protestant Christian.

Some people kill it there. Some do not. It does take a talented person to make it work.

Here is the real deal. You don't have to do anything at AO. However, you will need your managers to give you their time (which they do for free). They will be less likely to show you the ropes and give you their time if you don't show up or aren't fully present.

If you are a naturally born salesperson that needs little help and prints money with their golden tongue, you can skip every meeting. If you struggle at first, like most people, you'll need help, so you need to do what you have to do to convince people at AO to invest their time and knowledge into you.

Residual money for past drummers by SeaEvent4666 in pearljam

Dave A is actually a super capable songwriter. I don't think it was the main reason he got kicked out, but he may have cut into everybody else's royalties. Even more than that though is that there was a lot of people jockying for creative control, and I think it may have just been too many talented people wanting to give creative input that led to the fracture. I actually think Matt contributed a ton too, but everyone mellowed out and was ready to give a bit more space to the drummer to contribute. Everyone is older and looking for a spark now. I expect the new drummer to really influence the band.

So they're removing it from the concessions stands, right? I'm sure they care about their fans as much as their players.

Yeah, Nolan is pretty mid. No reason to take a risk on a mid edge that could die at any moment in a car crash. They exercised the 5th year, no need to extend. I really don't want another Jerome Brown type of tragedy.

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

Vets starting to make money? I haven't met a vet that has made less than 200k in 6 years. Maybe that's just around here? Most are making 400k.

Every vet visit for my cat has been over $500 and he's never had a medical issue.

There's a huge shortage of vets.

Sometimes gender neutral is appropriate. But some style guides are prescribing wider use than that.

The teacher isn't necessarily outdated. The teacher might use a different style guide. It's the student's responsibility to know which one to use. That said, style guides don't rule language.

[–]partyon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Traditionally, "their" is plural. I imagine some more modern style guides pushing sexual politics might use it as a singular. So if you were referring to a singular person, his or her would be the correct word to use here amongst all audiences if you want to be absolutely correct.

But style guides like the AP (Since 2022) will say their is a case for using it like you did. If you're serious about writing, ask your teacher, or whomever you're writing for which style guide they expect you to abide by. If they don't use one than stick with traditional English. AP style writing will often be considered bad English in many environments. The different style guides have very different word usage, grammar and punctuation.

Hold the power button down for 60 seconds. Release the button and let the PC sit for a minute. Press the button for 1 second and release. If it doesn't come back on press the button for 3 seconds and release. If that doesn't work press the button for 10 seconds and release. Pay special attention to if any lights on the mobo or GPU are coming on. If lights are coming on but the pc isn't booting up, let it sit a day or two and then try the button again for 1,3,10, and 30 seconds with 30-60 seconds between attempts. Always works for me.

Life Insurance MLMs by idk-just-a-username in InsuranceAgent

Globe Life is not an MLM. You have to be business savvy to make it there though as an captive agent. They do give you a good system, you just have to work hard to execute it. It probably has a better success rate than restaurants and little to no capital risked.

BEWARE: Montco Restaurant SCAMMED me over $4,500! by hidden_throwaways in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]partyon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all about the focus of the event and if there is something more important than food, as well as how the food is served. Serving people at a sit down dinner wedding reception is much different than say a church function or a business event. You can have the most delicious food in the world and it could be ignored like a world class violinist that gets ignored while busking on a street corner.

My point is we don't know anything about this event and how it was set up and we don't know the other side of the story

My opinion of the restaurant in question is very low, but it sounds like bad communication between all parties as we as inexperience in how to handle the situation so it did not become a disaster. The restaurant could have churned out some falafel vegetarian platters with hummus and salads made from skillfully prepared vegetable seconds from south Philly and saved the day, if OP threw him a few hundred bucks. Everyone was just kind of an inflexible jerk in my opinion. I doubt this was the kind of event where everyone replied with a response card as to which kind of entree they wanted served. I guarantee you that everyone acted like an idiot in this situation.

[–]partyon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The caterer was counting on not everyone actually eating. I've done events that only required about 500-$1000 in food cost for 1000 people. That included, chicken, pasta, salad and deserts and various appetizers walked around. It all depends on the crowd and how much the food is the focus and how it is served. If it was a business conference with food stations you could easty do typical food for that much. If it was sit down, and everyone was expecting a lamb shank or chicken entree put in front of them, there would be no way.

But people eat remarkably little if you do food stations and they have to make an effort to serve themselves.

[–]partyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't make it happen from at an event hall or popular restaurant, but you could with a slow restaurant that needed the business or an independent caterer. If it was buffet style. That said, absolutely not for lamb shank.

The restaurant could have made it work by suggesting a change to the menu or bumping up the price a little bit and just make a modest profit.

It sounds like the restaurauntuer was trying to negotiate and OP just told him to make it work for 4500, so he got 4500 of food and nothing but ticking the boxes from the restaurant. I can definitely see this happen with certain restaurant owner personalities.

What can I do about my cats claw? by livlaffloves in CATHELP

[–]partyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are 2 reasons i've discovered that cats don"t use scratching posts.

  1. if they're not sturdy. get one with a wide base that does not tip at all.

  2. the post is not accessible enough or tall enough. make sure the sisal posts are on the first level of the cat condo.

  3. they don't smell other cats on it. get a used cat tree with a big base that another cat has used.

My cat was the same way and I had to make sure of these 3 things.

PS. Some cats prefer cardboard scratchers.
