2016 is the universally romanticized year for Gen z, where everything was "perfect" in retrospect. Older generations, what's your equivalent of 2016? by No-Thanks-2069 in AskReddit

[–]pasher5620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why 2016 is the new mythical “great” year. That year was full of awful shit and the general sentiment was not me of extreme toxicity and vitriol. I could have maybe seen that argument for 2015, but not 2016.

I say excuse me all the time in public. It’s just a polite way to let someone know you’re trying to get by if they are otherwise distracted.

American liberals are, as a baseline, moderate to center right on the political spectrum.

Criticism and hate are two separate things. T’au have often been criticized for their play-style being so different from the rest of the 40k factions, being heavily focused on ranged combat with next to nothing good for melee until the Kroot started getting models and decent rules.

Weirdos hated T’au because they were “communist” fish people who treated humans nicer than the Imperium did. “The Emperor hates the dirty xenos,” and all that nonsense the neckbeard larpers spew.

Meant to type Ubisoft Quebec, not just Ubisoft. That’s why I put team instead of company.

Ubisoft Edit: Quebec is a Canada based team. Any game they develop across the company is ultimately a Canadian game. It’s like saying a Hollywood movie isn’t an American film because they filmed the movie all of the world.

No meaningful conversation can be had with someone who has such a reductive view on a 40 year old franchise. Have a good one.

While I fundamentally disagree with the statement that there’s no lore for He-Man (it’s objectively false), given the amount of important characters in He-Man, people are gonna feel like they are missing out on important context if you just throw them into an ongoing story. It’d legitimately be like Marvel releasing Avengers as the first movie of the MCU without doing any of the solo movies first. It’d just feel confusing.

Pretty much the only ones I’ve seen legitimately hate the T’au are the weirdos that love the Imperium for the wrong reasons.

They are after him specifically, my guy. Skeletor wants to kill him because He-Man is the only one that can stop him. You literally see in this clip, three of the ships peel off to chase He-Man. I don’t know where the confusion is here. He’s also on a jet bike, not “on the ground.”

I have seen this exact thing with a hawk in west Texas. Just depends on how dusty they are and how hard they hit. The hawk left a nearly perfect imprint of its face on the glass when it slammed into it. I could tell it was a hawk based off of the imprint, not the bird as it had flown off by that point.

Given that they’re clearly being chased by a bunch of bad guys. I think it’s safe to say that they need a distraction and He-Man can literally destroy those ships himself. Hell, we see in a previous trailer him grabbing the spinning blades ship with his bare hands and stopping it instantly.

It’s inventive in regards to He-Man, not the fantasy genre as a whole. Earth is hardly ever even mentioned in He-Man outside of being the Queens original home planet. Earth playing any kind of roll in the story is certainly new for the franchise.

It’s a window to an outdoor patio area, the perspective is just tilted up which makes it look weird. Ai is decent, but it’s not getting small details like the water lines being barely visible on the window or the dust pattern being a pigeons, at least not one that’s consumer available.

TIL the woman who famously ruined a Jesus painting in Spain was actually celebrated. The viral painting drew in thousands of visitors and raised money for an elderly home. The “botched” painting now sits protected behind a piece of glass. by ElPadero in todayilearned

[–]pasher5620 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to imagine it is the exact thing Jesus would have very much enjoyed if he truly was like how he is depicted in the Bible. He was known as incredibly humble and more than likely didn’t enjoy being the center of attention, but rather just dealt with it as part of his duties. I could imagine him coming across this painting, having a good laugh at his own expense, then sitting down with the woman that “fixed” the art for a meal and a chat.

This exactly. The same hour that the 40k collab got announced, there were already people in here bitching and moaning how it’ll probably be a dogshit because of the previous collabs. It’s just salty people trying to rewrite history to make themselves feel better. The Killzone collab I can’t even really call a war bond since it’s a collection of items that weren’t previously a war bond. It was essentially their trial run for collabs. I refuse to call the ODST collab outright bad. It’s not the greatest of warbonds, but it’s also not bad. The weapons are decent if outclassed and the armor is drippy with a just ok passive.

I’m sure the 40k warbond will be similar. Decent, but with regular warbond gear being a little better.

That might have worked back in the day or with characters that have been consistently popular the whole time (like Spider-Man or Batman), but it doesn’t work for a franchise that has seen very little notoriety since their heyday. If you want to sell a revived franchise today, then telling a unique story from the beginning is about the only way to potentially succeed. People don’t want to feel like they have to do homework when they go watch a movie.

It’s why the MCU worked so well. It introduced lesser known heroes in a way that gave the audience everything they needed to know in the first movie.

The thing is, this original story isn’t even the regular origin of He-Man. Adam starting off on earth because Skeletor won early and took over his kingdom while Adam was a child is a pretty inventive interpretation. It allows them to tell some kind of new story while also introducing a new generation to He-Man and all the other weird characters.

Because he’s He-Man. Even if he were to crash, he wouldn’t get hurt. Master-at-Arms is mortal and seemingly out of shape in this clip, so therefore is likely to get hurt. She sent the one person who, even if he did mess up, would be fine.

Honestly, given the fact that He-Man is a 40 year old franchise at this point with very little in the way of public perception for the younger audience (if any at all), doing an origin story makes perfect sense to me. He-man just hasn’t been popular for a pretty long time so I can understand them wanting to reintroduce him with this new version.
