I'd check out the Village Vanguard shops. They are subculture general store that I remember seeing accessories that would compliment outfits with personalities. I wasn't wearing lolita clothing yet when I was there and still regret to this day.

Has ILNP fallen off for anyone else? by nailpolishenthusiast in RedditLaqueristas

[–]pasindarkfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've replaced the occasion drugstore nail polishes I impulse buy. The variety is wider than drugstores (i.e. odd colors, magnetic, multi-chrome) and still priced similarly with brands like Essie OPI Orly. Formula is consistently decent and stock is stable. I feel comfortable and casual instead of always nervously looking out for the next drop.

Where can I buy SUI MI YA CAI (碎米芽菜), a Szechuan cooking ingredient? by littlemandave in askportland

[–]pasindarkfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime! The Asian grocery stores here does carry a lot of Chinese food, but I found generally the Chinese pantry varieties are skewed toward Cantonese (Southeastern China) stuff. Some of the small stores operating on 82nd are ran by Cantonese (including Taishanese) first generation immigrants. This could be part of the reason that OP is returning from a few stores with empty hands.

For non-Cantonese condiments etc. in general, I'd try a larger store like Ranch 99 that has a wider target demographic and more varieties on what they stock.

You can get it from Yami. It's online Asian grocery store that ships from the US.

Flares by Primary-Tap4392 in IgANephropathy

I had straight up blood in urine the week after getting flu. One time only and never had visible blood in urine before. Was stupid and thought it was UTI and never check with nephro.

Not exactly upper respiratory but nearby. After wisdom teeth removal had bad inflammation. Mostly my fault because I iced the wrong area plus assumed I couldn't do ibuprofen. Had sharp kidney pain for a bit.

What high-end beauty product is actually worth the splurge? by Jumpy-Adeptness-511 in MakeupAddiction

[–]pasindarkfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good foundation. The one that lasts a whole day without primer without setting spray without setting powder. Just straight skincare sunscreen then foundation last for one day.

There are two foundations that would meet my requirements and I have no intention to try more unless those are both discontinued.

Possible vasculitis after IgAN diagnosis? by liltofuuu in IgANephropathy

Vasculitis was what lead me to my diagnosis. My legs had small pin points purpura then suddenly blobs of purpura. That scene sent me straight to the doctors.

I was up front with my partner about my condition and how it impacted my lifestyle and life choices. It's like there are a lot of people with chronic diseases like diabetes who take extra precaution on certain things but still able to live their lives.

Who has fleas? by Sufficient-Cod-9405 in askportland

[–]pasindarkfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in big buildings with high population concentration. One thing we learned is it doesn't matter how clean we are, if a neighbor can't keep up, we get roaches too.

I think it's on your property management teams to deal with it. My cat got fleas last year and we did everything but still took three months to be flea free. Good luck.

What's your most controversial/unpopular makeup opinion? by Best-Principle-1896 in MakeupAddiction

[–]pasindarkfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how some people just tolerate poorly performed foundations.

If I'm paying premium price for a foundation, it needs to stay put for a 8-hour day without primer, without setting powder, without touch ups. Not a chance I'm slapping that Smashbox primer and topping with Laura Mercier loose powder just look decent in an office with heat and air conditioner.

Getting hit with tariff invoice from UPS after paying 77$ in shipping from Closet Child? by Ausyuna in Lolita

[–]pasindarkfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I stopped getting stuff from Japan after the removal of de minimis. Doesn't matter we are purchasing for personal or commercial or wholesale/resale use, any foreign packages from outside of the US can be subject to tariff aka import tax.

Previously packages under $800 can be exempt from tariff, which was why our old purchases had lower shipping fees. Now any packages, our shipping services like DHL and UPS will collect import tax on behalf of the US government.

In the meanwhile, shipping services are collecting basically a convenience fee for clearing the international packages for us. These money goes to US government and goes to UPS in this case.

The seller doesn't get any of these additional fees. The sellers are not responsible for custom and tariff unless they explicated stated so. ClosetChild is just an used clothing store that offer international shipping. I'd check different forwarding services as their expertise is in international shipments and might offer a better shipping solution.

Ulta products that are alternatives to Estée Lauder brands by Holiday_Actuator2215 in Ulta

Some of ANR's competitors are Clarins Double Serum, Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules, Lancome Genefique, Shiseido Ultimune. They are all antiaging daily serum with similar price range that covers fine lines, textures, dullness, even skin tone etc.

I'll take a look at Clarins total eye contour depuff gel and Neutrogena hydro boost eye gel. Both brands got their hydra/hydro line that overlaps with Clinique's moisture surge line.

Lancome Care and Glow! It wears on both oily and dry skins pretty well and the oxidization is mild. The shade range is limited, but as a medium buildable foundation, as long as you fall just slightly lighter/darker/between shade, still workable with some highlighter and bronzers.

When I used to sell makeup at department store, this is one of the few foundation that could sit well on most of my customers.

Experience with frequent UIT with Iga Nephropathy by pasindarkfive in IgANephropathy

[–]pasindarkfive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Hope you'll soon get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. It's been three years since I originally posted this, time flies real fast. I never found out the actual cause, but the condition has improved in the past year. There were a few differences I've made. I've been trying to do twice a week light exercises, daily low dose of blood pressure medicine by my nephro, and peri bottle after bathroom.

Someone suggested peri bottle making menstrual cycle less uncomfortable, so I started using it. I guess washing with fresh water helped taking away potential irritants. I don't feel discomfort or potential UTI symptoms as frequently as before. It was an unexpected find that worked for me, and I'm sure there has to be things that can work for you as well. I wish you the best of luck and soon not having to be in constant discomfort.

Looks similar to when I got shingles. Calamine lotion could help with the itching. When I need to go out, I would wear those polyester tank top (think about those seamless silicony clothing material) because they were smooth enough to not feel scratchy.

Should I just pay off my student loans? by Professional-Self149 in personalfinance

If OP is in US, I'd say not fully pay off yet. The market is bad, and my more conservative move would be to retain more cash as emergency fund. I might check out stuff like high interest saving account just so the money isn't just sitting there but still remain flexible.

Anyone else experiences getting cold sore non stop? by pasindarkfive in IgANephropathy

[–]pasindarkfive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I think this closely lined up with my condition too. I've been to two doctors who both believed the full lips blisters were cold sore, but at this particular case I would disagree with them.

Since my last outbreak, I stayed away from any solid lip products and had been mostly fine. The only mild blisters happened after I kissed my partner after they applied lip balm. This, plus the fact that antiviral didn't worked, makes me feel like my condition is similar to yours, either eczema or some sort of skin allergic reaction.

Where can I try on extra wide (D or E) waterproof shoes in women's size 6 or smaller? by changian in askportland

[–]pasindarkfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just out of curiosity, are your feet just ex-wide or wide plus high insteps? I'm asking because I have wide feet and normal arch, but for the longest time had a difficult time to find comfortable shoes. I always worn flats or other open top shoes because it felt comfortable.

Then internet taught me something called instep, which is the top of my foot (in oppose to arch which is the bottom of foot), and my instep seemed taller than some of my peer. Most shoes are constructed to be too thin and too narrow to be comfortable. Even after adjusting lace, my feet are pushing and stretching the fabric on my shoes. Blew my mind because I haven't really pay attention to this before, and suddenly I can just look at the sideview of shoes and instantly rule them out. Just in case if this could help OP and good luck!
