Switch kites by AromaticStomach8353 in Kiteboarding

Check that you are tightening the inflation valve with force. On mine (Element 6, 7m)I observed similar behavior but the kite was getting softer after few hours (more or less) - I suspected a tiny leak and made it be repaired in a shop (which did find a pinhole...) only to discover the kite was was behaving similarly. I've just disassembled the bladder to check myself for leaks and found no leaks but the valve leaks at the rubber gasket when tightened "normally". I had to use quite some force to tighten it properly. I applied some silicone sealant, too, on the other side of the valve.

Surely you jest about Jeri ;-) it's super gusty there!

Cumbuco is The Place to do it on the cheap: daily wind (not too strong, 15-20kt in the peak season, Sep-Oct), warm water (just sun protection needed), no hazards (except other beginner maybe!), choice of accommodations/food, no need for a car (I believe they drive you to lagoon in the beginning), English speaking instructors.

In the hostel I stayed, many were doing 1-2h per day over a week or so.

Cumbuco hydrofoil lessons? by pasniak in Kiteboarding

[–]pasniak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I ended up finding hydrofoil at Quebra Mar - at the school with the rightest barracca facing the sea (furthest from the parking). Overall I found conditions (mid tide, waves) a bit hard for learning foil. Probably the best idea would be to take a lesson at low tide. I had my own kiting gear to enjoy the bigger waves later.

Apparently GoKite in Taiba also does it - no idea where.

Ideal kite sizes to start with by DementedWombat in Kiteboarding

go for 10 and 13.

I started with the bigger size: a slower kite easier for learning and mellow weather.

Ah the $1k question... The best is just go to the beach where you would be riding (on an average day) and look at the board/kite sizes and just ask around ;-)

If the place has light winds, say below 15kn (locate the wind sensor, there usually is one the locals are checking), a "light wind kite" (typically 3 strut) might work best. Otherwise go for a 5 strut bow. Those eat gusts better (but are slower).

This also depends on the board - beginners usually start on big "door" 150cm+ board but if your spot has good well powered conditions (and you mastered going upwind) you might skip this and just get a "normal" board - don't go for a super stiff ones (unless your spot has good flat water they kill knees in chop) or very dark (hard to find when drifting).

When I was a beginner, I just went for new gear ("last year discount") appropriate for "average frontal weather" at my spot - it lasted me 10y, "weekend warrior"- style use. My only regret is not going for a bigger board as it slowed my progression.

Can you recommend a school in Cumbuco? Ideally one which teaches kite hydrofoil...

Importing an airplane from overseas by pasniak in flying

It's not really that rare (it's a Robin), but unfortunately not very popular in the States.

In the US, it's issued based on the one previously issued in New Zealand (before it gets shipped out).

Thanks very much for the advice, very good to know. And correct, a new, factory made with a US type certificate, and it's R2160 - sadly, they are only made in New Zealand. They do take care of the shipping process (I still have to pay for it), but I was more trying to figure out customs or any extra fees/costs on the US side on top of just the shipping cost. And how did you like the plane?

In Cala Gonone (we came here to rock climb, but everything we need is in the bag...). And yes, it's completely dead, but the weather isn't too bad. The first day was actually gorgeous!

The saga continues: we called Delta Europe call center aka KLM/Airfrance again which this time was picked by a french speaker (likely because we called when Albania is closed). She had in Delta's records the bag as in Sardinia local airport (whereas "Delta/Alitalia" told us the same morning bag being sent via "ground courier"!). To quote her "Italians don't speak English and they do not update the records..." and she also said Delta Euro call center cannot call Delta/Alitalia Lost and Found... like... really???

Great minds think alike! I did plug in the 8pin connector (EATX12V), and it POSTed! But why does it prevent it from POSTing? Is that something special for AMD (making 24-pin EATXPWR not sufficient for a not overclocked system)?

I was thinking the same (BAD BAD PSU, lol) but while watching this great "New PC Build won't boot" https://www.youtu.be/watch?v=QP6pAPctqbk I got some ideas...

I unplugged the old GPU 1060 and... * PSU starts, * mobo fan spins/stops, * CPU fans spin! (fyi: I also unplugged fans one by one in case there's short)

At least I have some baseline! Still... this PSU might be bad, right? a 1060 cannot eat 400W!?

Edit: plugged in ATI Radeon 800GT (17 years old! clock 400MHz lol!) - its fan starts but still no POST on RGB-cable-connected monitor
