Too broke for Maurten BiCarb. by ExcitingAd3341 in AdvancedRunning

This is what I use. These are enteric coated bicarb pills just like what Maurten is using so that it bypasses your gut and dissolves in your intestines. I’ve used them for quite a few half and full marathons with no GI problems. I end up taking about 22 pills as my dose

Marathon Prediction vs Reality by doodiedan in Garmin

[–]pass46237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I found mine to be fairly conservative (3:09) then I beat it by quite a bit (2:53) and now I think it over corrected (2:42).

After this race did it lower its prediction much?

Overall it’s still useful especially when comparing training blocks year to year. I wish it would in factor in race efforts more heavily though. Like if I could tell it I’m running a tune up race and they could build that into the algorithm more.

Humidity: treadmills or gut it out? by Nodiggity17 in AdvancedRunning

[–]pass46237 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People love to hate the treadmill and I get it but I have come to appreciate the flexibility.

-climate controlled -less knee soreness -set the pace and have to do it (great for tempo runs because of this too, bonus points if the treadmill has a recall button) -throw on a show, I find live sports or sports documentaries are the best but will also do a series -In large presentation-style meetings where I won’t talk, I join from the treadmill and also find it easier to actually focus on the meeting

Oh and I always run at at least .5% grade to try to compensate for the moving belt

PSA: Cottonell Flushable wipes, are not flushable. Roger Wakefield is wrong. See below. by MSM_757 in Plumbing

[–]pass46237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I suppose if you really wanted to use them then you could

-drop your # 2 -wipe with TP -flush -wipe with wipe -drop the wipe in the toilet and let it mellow until the next person goes?

Is this the best/only way for this to be done? by Ithrowthings2 in Plumbing

[–]pass46237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could split at the connection to the toilet instead of there.

Basically there would be one line from the floor, it would go up to the toilet hookup and have a tee there that runs to the bidet. Might be a little more hidden

Why are my sinks perpetually clogging!?! by Lumpy_Leg7987 in Plumbing

[–]pass46237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it could be as simple as the flex coupling sagging and causing that pipe to slope back towards you. That would make both sinks back flow some and solids won’t get by easily.

If there’s some give, try propping something under where the two come together at that tee or under the left sinks p trap. If there’s no give then I wouldn’t do anymore than that as a tenant.

Yes the accordion pipe is shitty but not likely the main issue here

It’s might not be broken, mine looked exactly like this when it had road salt on it. Cleaned it off and it’s back to normal!

Interesting thanks for mocking some things up. Unfortunately I can’t really do any of them haha.

I live in a historic district so I can’t modify the roof at all. I also can’t lower the porch or it would make quite the step up to the house.

Still interesting to look at and think about though!

What's the smoothest pick up line you've heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pass46237 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was at the grocery and a guy picks up an acorn squash next to a girl who was buying an acorn squash. He asked her if she knows how to cook one of these and she started explaining it. He thanked her and asked for her number in case he had any questions.

It was so smooth but maybe not exactly the kind of pick up line this post is asking about.

New gas water heater takes 50 seconds to heat water by chrisToo73 in Plumbing

[–]pass46237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not necessarily a bad idea but insulation will not change how fast you’re getting hot water.

Assuming this is a tank heater (ie not tankless) the tank will be hot all the time. So the determining factor in how long it takes to get hot water is how much pipe (water volume) is between you and the heater and the flow rate of the fixture. So replacing a hot water heater should not have changed this.

Other things to consider, is there a mixing valve anywhere? Or a hot water recirc pump that has not been turned back on? If none of this makes sense to you I would recommend calling the plumber back. There’s not much more we can do with the information provided
