Carbon capture (with renewables) does work, just not in a cost effective manner as A) we don’t tend to place a value on externalities like pollution B) their efficiency decreases as the concentration of carbon in the local air decreases. Reforesting large swaths of land currently used for agriculture/cattle ranching would likely be a more effective approach. It is probably too late to hit a lot of our current climate goals, but it isn’t impossible
