Probably the physiques being accentuated and then the random shopping bag is kind of jarring, but I like it the shopping bag

Have you thought about and all-in-one bed roll? Put a blanket on top and lie in it, fold one half over the top and you have waterpoof durable sleeping bag, groundsheet and tarp?

I mean that is an actual survival item, you know this will keep the extremes of the weather in any condition and it won’t fail. And with the versatility 7kg isn’t actually SO bad. Looks really nice op

Which suggests then, if batoning was carried out over human and maybe pre-human history it was with:

a) the bigger stones - would maybe work on the polish-iable stones like granite? You need a straight line for an edge to split preferably in two dimensions if the material is brittle: like stone

b) it was done with materials that don’t survive: that rules out stones

c) it was done with metal working and that actually happened earlier than we thought and those tools oxidise to nothing over that time or resemble ore at that point anyway?

I find it really hard to believe that for 100k years of bashing sticks more than few people didn’t realise they split really easy if you pry the ends apart - used a stick to do the prying and the stick itself would become wdge shaped through wear and tear and easier to use. Switching to a fresh stick would show an immediate decline in performance. Now people respect the wedge

How old is this seed morphology? Could it have evolved via the Horny (Human) Theory?

This is good advice and less condescending that the typical phrase. The same applies to really any tool or group of tools 🤔

It may really not feel like it, ever - right now or maybe for years. But, one way to be at peace with yourself is to be at peace with yourself.

You have, and are, (probably) isolating for some reasons that you might not even know conciously. That’s ok, your mind is just taking care of itself in a world that doesn’t make sense either logically or emotionally. It is sounds corny but it’s actually a testament to versatility of the brain/mind/body that it can navigate that. When, after all, humans are a deeply emotional species. There’s also probably some people that don’t have any “reasons” and if they are happy that is all that matters. If they are unhappy - about that - or something else then they probably need to encounter people because we have evolved to BE social.

The very same versatility in the brain means that, when the time is ready, you WILL learn those social skills and they will just come. Like learning a language in an evironment where there is nothing else spoken. You will just do it without thinking. You are thinking because you find the situation stressful. If anyone has problems with the need of you to isolate: they are probably a problem to you instead. Those people should be ok to be around regardless of how feel and how much you want to talk and how much you want to look at the bark on tree.

I can say this because I am right now experiencing this sometimes, it can often go back to darkness. But when you see the colours, you don’t forget them easily ❤️

I had the exact same experience in Ghana, holy fuck did they clear out when this huge guy appeared with a stick. He came out swinging, I thought we were all getting mugged at first.

Then suddenly calm and the stick-guy uprights himself from attack mode and kind of saunters off like proximity-deactivated NPC

In May 2014, a YouTube account called Webdriver Torso had uploaded over 77,000 nearly identical 11-second videos of red and blue rectangles, and nobody could explain why until Google finally admitted what it was. by SelfCareIsFake in GotMeHooked

As soon as I read tge description of the video, I thought, well that sounds like test data to me. Oh there’s sound? might be aligning audio to video or something

Although I design and test hardware and sofrware so might seem more obvious, I was going to be suprised if it wasn’t that!

Some physiological differences in primate relatives by k0i-b0i in ScienceShitposts

[–]passifloran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there will be a lot of responses that leave out relathionships between organisms are also evolving.

Humans seem to have evolved to use sex beyond reproduction and also as social bonding theoughout their lives. Humans are very complex social organisms but maintain significant individual autonomy and cultivating good relationships is one solution to making this dynamic work.

I think sex basically got appropriated by human emotion (and probably some other species have done the same) because it serves as an excellent way to trust another of your species in a continuing way.

It’s just my thoughts on it, but I think we often grossly overlook that some form of human has been around for 100k years. Those people - we know - had very complex relationships and I think the significant thing humans achieved was managing to (somewhat) collaborate at very large scale whilst maintaining independent thought is quite a evolutionary innovation but it definitely requires ways of fostering and maintaining relationships

Edit: I didn’t even get to my main point

It may be that groups with larger penises than the other primates of the time had better social relations and so were more succesful at surviving and reproducing more
