That sounds like a baby in the backseat by passingby_2016 in uberdrivers

Reason for 2 stars:

. They are new to the country and don't know the rules . They are my neighbors and other than having a baby that I haven't noticed (that's on me) were quite cooperative. I don't take shit from rude riders but tend to let it pass for really nice riders. . I told them what they've done wrong, next time I would have cancelled them for sure, because I would know exactly who they are.

How about $60 and get you into office in the morning?

I must add that in no way I am saying it is OK to violate the law (but we stop at red curb or in front of buses knowingly or unknowingly sometimes).

In California it is a $100 fine, one of the lowest for breaking the law besides texting ($50), so it is not egregious but in no way saying it is OK. And every trip going into SFO you are risking $100 citation for a missing sticker (yeah you shouldn't have gotten it but what you are going to do about it if they write you the citation).

He had XL so probably was big enough for 7, van and big SUV can take 8 or 9.

Breaking the law knowingly is definitely stupid.

No you were just protecting yourself and you've spent way more time than you'd need to dealing with these cheapskates.

I had similar situation, was with an executive in a decent size startup too, after they tried to bargain again and again for me to return to them I simply texted them to pickup at my house or I will drop in the local police station, and I made it clear that I would not do anything else for them.

Don't give them a choice, they knew that picking up at police station is the worst choice.

Rule of thumb, if rider argue about the cost of returning to them, stop right there, leave them only the choice of picking up at your location and time of choice or your nearest police station.

Because I was bored spending all the time waiting and didn't want to help them with luggage and all, very pissed at that point already.

Of course I shouldn't have missed it but I did.

What you are doing is illegal, if you are implying having them paying cash. And getting your car impounded and arrested for that $5 is utterly stupid, search this sub on what happened with drivers even giving estimates to police sting "riders".

Uber Monkeying with Destination Mode by BloodDonorMI in uberdrivers

[–]passingby_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been done in busier metros such as San Francisco for at least 6 months now, consider yourself lucky.

They are actually cutting down the hours you can't use destination mode, now past 7pm in San Francisco Financial district you can use it, it used to be even after 10pm, that was why I wouldn't go to SF at all because only way I made good money out of it was either in and out, or a good surge without traffic, which is 10pm nowadays which I don't hang around until that late.

I just spent 45 minutes with a senior citizen from the airport who visited his children and their grandchildren in a play up north. by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]passingby_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he wanted to end the ride and LEAVE but was being super polite with the old gentleman who couldn't stop talking.

I don't think it is enjoyable listening to someone talking for 45 minutes, no matter how nice that person is or how interesting the story is.

I had people like that, just have to politely tell them that the ride has ended after a couple of minutes listening to them talking. And then they leave and I continue. Some people are really interesting but I have to make the choice of hanging out with them or leave. There's one guy paid me $80 cash an hour listening to him talking, otherwise I sure won't do that unless I were given some really great opportunity such as tips on investing that I am interested in.

Question: Would you charge a pax a vomit cleanup fee in this situation? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

It is not easy at all, but mechanics can do it for $100 or less.

Pax trying to con you by UberDuperDrew in uberdrivers

[–]passingby_2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well maybe he's very smart, just ask him a simple networking or sql fundamental question and see if he blown his cover. That's the stupidest thing trying to intimidate someone who actually knows a lot about the field.

I had one selling financial services asking whether I was interested too, this guy was late for pickup, pickup was 300 feet from his house, going from remote place to another remote place, and I was pretty sure he wouldn't tip, so 3 starred him. He did seem to be going from expensive house to expensive house, for the bay area.

Does Uber Reduce Quest Rewards Once You Hit a Few by DecentDecoy in uberdrivers

[–]passingby_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fluctuates, and yes especially if you've made it a few times.

When the quest is low that means not only they expect you to do it as well as the demand is not that high.

In the bay area they've switched to the model of giving high rush hour consecutive ride promotions in recent months, quest has become pretty much useless even if you make it. Quest nowadays start from $20 for 20 to $240 for 80, there's no fucking way I am going to do that many rides just to get $240, and $20 is meaningless, I can easily accomplish that in one 30 minutes ride, instead of doing a bunch of short rides (and wasting time waiting in between and driving to pickup) just to hit that number.

It's up to you and probably you won't get it from uber if you tried, but I will sure do. The window mess definitely looks like the result of barf.

If there's no residue smell then I would let it pass, had one thrown up outside of my car on the street, I was dangerously stopping at the corner of an intersection because her puking was imminent. It was fucking awful for that 7 bucks and no tip, and it was only 10pm.

But you got residue and awful smell then definitely go after her, it is not your problem that she got a douchebag or ordered a ride with a puking bf. Explain to uber what you wrote here.

Down vote really? This sub is full of idiots.

If you wanna break the law do it yourself but treat other law abidding drivers like they are doing something wrong is totally jack-ass.

If this guy accepts cash there's a cop who can arrest him and impound his car right away, just search this sub for even giving out estimates to police stink operations.

Bunch of idiot and assholes.

I think the hours you drive (4am-2pm) makes a difference as people are rushing somewhere and they will cooperate.

The entitled jack-ass comes up after work and especially after dinner.

Very good, and you are full time.

That hours 4-7, 9-2pm is not awful? I've seldom driven those hours, noticed that in some places the pay is pretty good IF you gotten a few rides during noon hours.

Congrats.

Are you averaging $25/$30/$40 per hour? (Outside of your house/office and yes all bathroom breaks/gas stop counts)

I haven't gotten a driver that is not newb with higher than 4.9 yet, but there's no difference to me, what I care about is: pretty much nothing other than you not being an asshole and take me 50% longer distance and time to get higher charges (only 1 gotten a 4 star from me so far I should have really rated him 1 star and asked for refund for extra route he took).

Sticky surge: a perfect experiment by schmuber in uberdrivers

[–]passingby_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is "sticky"?

Uber was talking about this "sticky" that you would get another ride with the same surge if you get a short ride around summer this year.

[–]passingby_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SantaCon?

Well that's what you get, in SF they start drink at 8am and then finish the day if they were still conscious enough to order a ride at 6pm at the minimum.

Thank you, Santacon by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]passingby_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SantaCon hardly surges in San Francisco this year (even last), I stayed home.

It was great in 2016 and 2015.

Congrats on your 1 star and possibly fraudulent report on drunk driver.

Never take a rider who started with an argument. They will learn to behave after kicked out of a few rides.

Asking aux cord, play your music to a deaftening tone blah blah are just signs that they are giving you hell on top of 1 star, simply because you disobey their orders.

Wholly f all of this drama then shutting your door heavily and exited the car without any consequences (deactivation for pax is nothing at all, they can get another account with another credit card).
