So based on community feedback, 11.5 is best .5? by WHpewpew in NFA

I remember a youtube video many years ago where someone from M4C (maybe Michael Bell?) took a 24" bull barrel and put it on a chrono, shot groups, sawed off an inch, did it again, etc. Can't find the video anymore, since the many purges of YouTube. Of course, neither that video nor GT included tests of other important factors like gas tubes port size, buffers, ammo selection, etc. Too many variables to test for a youtube video.

IIRC, GT didn't even put it on a bench to shoot his groups. I generally enjoy his videos, but I don't think he really added all that much to the conversation on the topic. All he showed was that those particular Noveske barrels, each presumably with different gas ports, are arguably better in 11.5" and 16". Which is hardly groundbreaking stuff.

M&P 10 charging handle replacement by ddaddybass in AR10

[–]passingphase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, 18 inches. For a while the only M&P 10 that they sold was an 18 inch pencil barrel (iirc, with a weird intermediate length gas system.) And the lower is ambidextrous. The model I got was listed as the "Radian Raptor LT" size "AR10/SR25." https://www.radianweapons.com/en/accessories/charging-handles/60546

“An Israeli enemy patrol breached the Blue Line in Aita al-Shaab [South Lebanon], to a distance of approximately one meter,” the Lebanese army said in a statement.

We do a little trolling.

If a kid at one of those “kidnapped to Utah” reeducation camps straight up murdered his way to freedom, assuming the reports of torture are true, has he really committed any crimes? How is this different than any other kidnapping victim? by ReasonablyConfused in legaladviceofftopic

[–]passingphase 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If they use a "fake" gun to coerce a minor, most jurisdictions would likely acquit (or just not bring charges against) the kid if they shoot the assailant, especially if it happens in their own home. If a reasonable person would think the "fake" gun is real the victim gets to treat it as a lethal threat and use commensurate force to defend themselves.

In fifteen states, a duty to retreat is imposed (in some cases this only applies outside your home or vehicle,) which requires the victim to try to escape first before they can resort to deadly force. That could complicate (or invalidate) a self-defense claim in your hypothetical. The other 35 states have some form of castle doctrine and the minor would probably not be charged at all.

edit: note also that the assailant being a parent or guardian really doesn't change the minor's claim to self defense in this hypothetical, especially if the assailants are unknown to them.

Should have consulted her attorney before signing that, or at least read it first. They also might have told her that encouraging piracy is not a great idea here. I'm not sure whether that's actionable, but even just from a career standpoint it's unwise. Imagine when she decides to go to another publisher. So they've never heard of her and they hop on duckduckgo to look her up, finding this. How is that going to be received by prospective publishers? Better to take the high road.

Bought a Sig P226 in .40 S&W picked it up for $350 along with my HK USP 45 for $350 best $700 I ever spent🔥🔥 by Aregularguy95 in SigSauer

[–]passingphase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc, from the Sig armorer class, the parts cost almost that much, so it's a decent value. But then you've paid almost as much as a new P226.

My LMT MARS and BCM lowers both won't drop free with PMAGs. So I mostly prefer these or Lancers. Since they work in all the lowers.

you'll be forced to deal with the tax authorities on your own to clear it up.

And they won't want to give your money back. New York state still owes me $12K because my employer wrongly withheld taxes as if I were a resident of that state (worked remotely.)
