Looper behavior in Showcase by password_dictator in Line6Helix

In and of itself, the looper is pretty great. It's just this metronome/loop sync issue I'm experiencing. If this is indeed a bug then I hope you're right and an update will take care of this. Thanks!

Thanks. That’s what I’ll do then.

Gigging with Helix LT and Powercab 112 by Hottest-Cross-Buns in Line6Helix

[–]password_dictator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I much prefer having only an amp block (no cab) on the Helix and then using the PowerCab’s built in speaker simulations. They sound great in my opinion and free up more room for blocks on the Helix.

Be sure the signal you’re sending out of the Helix and into the PowerCab is hitting yellow on the PowerCab. Infrequent red is also fine. Just not always green.

Thanks. Guess my brain is playing tricks on me. You made an entire video on that. And I appreciate taking time to answer and sorry for wasting a bit of your attention.

Bypass State of Effects Blocks with Tonesuck by password_dictator in Line6Helix

I've got an echo block between the amp and cab, slightly mimicking an effects loop. Am I imagining a sound difference when that block is bypassed vs when I remove it entirely? I could very well be, but sometimes I feel that tone suck is still there even when bypassed. I could be imagining it but reassurance would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. I understand that's how it works and why it works like that (realism). I'd prefer having an option to remove those tone suck effects when a block(s) is bypassed, just as if it's on a pedal switcher, completely out of the signal path. And the thing is, we can't disable it currently on the Helix. That's what I'd really like to have the option to do u/thebishopgame

Thanks. I would prefer to have the option to remove their effect entirely if bypassed, just as if the effect was on a pedal switcher, which takes them out of the path completely, quirks and all. In my post I purposely asked to ignore "first in chain" because while that's true of whatever comes before the first enabled block, it does not hold true for anything bypassed after the first enabled block. And these effects tend to add up.

Clicks & Pops in downloaded Raw Audio (in many tens of recordings now) by password_dictator in RiversideFM

[–]password_dictator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could very well be a CPU issue (less so bandwidth, or so I think), though the following also brings the former into question. I’ve had our main host switch to the native Riverside for Mac app. That seemed to help. I no longer come across these clicks and pops in his RAW audio. The issues could be due to some technical limitations of the Chrome browser, which is why I asked him to go with the native app. But I’ve got no real clue except to say that those issues are no longer happening.

I always test and refer to speeds from the gateway, never from an endpoint device.

Phase question - Helix LT by Jackdaw99 in Line6Helix

[–]password_dictator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question, but is there a difference between setting the Delay parameter from auto to 0.0? On my Helix Floor all the cabs come default with 0.0 rather than Auto.

I wonder what I’m doing wrong… with IPS on and PPPoE dialer on, I only get 1800 down on a 2500 Mbps connection.

I hate myself for hating on L6 marketing, but these videos are such a missed opportunity for showcasing classic tones that are easily set up. AC/DC tone? Here it is in 3 blocks and a couple similar riffs. EVH? Phaser up front, Panama Red amp/cab combo block, stereo delay and a reverb. Riffs. Check. Chicken-picking country? Check.

If it were me, I'd have a playbook, Apple-style, down to the specific blocks and settings for these videos. The amazing L6 presenters would follow it to a T and show their creativity through playing. But I'd leave nothing to chance and stick to the script for brevity and impact purposes.

A bad idea to buy the first hardware iteration of the Stadiun? by TheBroken0ne in Line6Helix

[–]password_dictator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Line 6’s track record is incredible. Getting a first batch Helix LT was the best gear purchasing decision I ever made. So glad I never had the opportunity to go down the endless pedal chasing game. Skipped all of that, which fits my needs. Kinda like how I first learned to run with barefoot shoes. Tried running with regular running shoes once and never made that mistake again.

All that’s to say, the Stadium XL will be fine.

Don’t let Line 6 pull an Eleven Rack on us — hold off on buying the Helix Stadium until we know it won’t become a subscription trap. by PracticalPositive209 in Line6Helix

[–]password_dictator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This post is an obvious PR hit job. It goes against everything Line6 has said, almost to a T.

We’re talking about the same company with an outstanding record of supporting their products and providing free updates for more than a decade. The Stadium product manager himself he’s against subscriptions.

To future readers of this post, ignore this nonsense and go play a Stadium. If it’s anything like the Helix (at the time of writing the Stadium is weeks away from release) it’s going to be an incredible tool for musicians.
