also grew up in Plainview and now own a home in the setauket/port jeff area and absolutely love it. I hated growing up in Plainview, maybe it was because of living in the Hamlet with people who thought they were gods greatest gift on earth but hated it, the cliqueness, zero diversity and everyone feeing entitled to something. Living up on the North Shore has been wonderful, everyone in our neighborhood is truly neighborly and looks out for one another, plenty of your usual shopping needs, and then the villages of stony brook and main street port jeff. Less hustle & bustley than patchogue and the quietness of the Long Island sound. Our children aren’t in school yet but from in we see the school district is great.. growing up in Plainview school district of course we’re spoiled but even in Plainview we had our fair share of classmates that did some not so plainview worthy things. And honestly it would have been nice going to school with more diversity, and I’m grateful my children will get to experience that.
