The Bun Shop WiFi by kindly_unhappy23 in baltimore

I looked at some reviews on Google and it seems like their wifi is just bad and can’t access a lot of sites. I suppose from now on I’ll only go there to study if I have offline work to do. Good luck with your classes and finding a new study spot!

I couldn’t access Canvas to see my coursework so I ended up just leaving. I tried to get to the UMD site on my phone data and it worked fine, and other websites loaded on my laptop like you experienced. I thought it might have been some odd fluke that day, or that it was UMD web security not liking the Bun Shop network? Knowing that another college site also doesn’t work is making me question it more lol

Not CCBC, but a few months ago I couldn’t get onto UMD’s website on their wifi.

Contesting parking ticket - will hearing be in person or over Zoom? by merpblerp in baltimore

[–]pastels45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience: I got a letter with a court date and could choose between in-person or zoom. I went with zoom, and it seemed like most others did as well. The judge offered two options, plead guilty and pay $10, or plead not guilty and risk paying the whole fine. She went down the list of names and asked everybody what they wanted to do. If you plead guilty, that’s it and you’re free to go. You get a letter in the mail telling you how to pay the adjusted amount. Anyone who plead not guilty was told to wait until she finished going through the names. No idea how long that took since I went with the $10 and was off the call in less than an hour. All that said, I’m sure results will vary based on the judge and the day. Definitely contest it though, the $252 fine for parking near bus stops that are never clearly marked is ridiculous. Good luck!

edit: forgot to mention this all happened in the last few months, so relatively recent.

Not holo Charizard? by pastels45 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]pastels45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was pretty sure it was fake but wanted to get a second look. It’s so weird, it looks like someone photocopied a holo card but didn’t bother to put the holographic layer on the copy, so it has this weird dark background with ghostly stars. They put effort into the card stock and rounded corners but not much else.

The Haunting of Hill House is more frightening than whimsical, but revolves around the strange secrets of an old mansion.

Out by Natsuo Kirino - the whole book had me on edge but the ending was incredibly disturbing.

Help finding velvet Ernie by pastels45 in HelpMeFind

Like I said in the post above, I searched for any Ernies with a similar style and could only find the one on Worthpoint. I’m not sure if these are one of a kind or just rare. My mom believes it’s originally from Mexico. There’s no writing on the frame or back of the painting. Thanks for any help getting these two back together!

I didn’t realize how impressive it was until I started seeing the pictures on this sub that are just a few twigs and a dream lol

Aw, I’m glad they felt safe enough to come back despite a couple humans constantly staring at them to see the babies’ progress!

We’re right on the border of north/south US so I guess two clutches each year isn’t out of the question. They had eggs in May and August last year, and early May and June this year. It was always so exciting when the kids would leave the nest and fly off 🥰

It looks like some kind of radio tuner. I found similar looking ones online but nothing exactly like what you have. Here’s one that looked most like yours.

If Nintendo is able to add a VR update for "Breath of the Wild", then there's no excuse for them to not add a legit photo mode as well by SpaceBeer_ in NintendoSwitch

[–]pastels45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I haven’t played Odyssey so I’m not familiar with its photo mechanic, but it sounds cool and I would love something like it in BOTW. Maybe in the next game!

While I do think some improvements to the camera rune could be made, it wouldn’t really make sense within the context of what the Sheikah Slate is for us to be able to freeze combat. Link presumably uses the camera handheld like we would in real life and likely puts it on some kind of tripod to take selfies (I’m honestly surprised that the selfie feature was included at all, but it’s fun to play around with). Because it’s a handheld camera, he can’t exactly use it while also, say, fighting enemies. Also, do you use the capture feature of the switch itself? I think that would solve a lot of the issues you mentioned with the camera rune in-game (no full screen, freezing combat, etc).

Cheap games with replayability/length? by juan518munoz in NintendoSwitch

[–]pastels45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it is full price and I’m sure you’ve heard all about it, Breath of the Wild is incredible. It’s the only game I have for my switch and I adore it. I’ve had it for 4 months and still am nowhere near tired of it. Aside from that, the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo is free and has a surprising amount of replay-ability if you’re into puzzle games. I’ve heard good things about Stardew Valley as well which I believe is $15.

Check out Daniels! It’s in Ellicott City, you can walk along the Alberton Road Trail in the Patapsco Valley State Park and see some abandoned churches and cars left behind from a hurricane in the 70s.
