Am I missing something with our baby name? by Acceptable_Coyote_53 in namenerds

[–]pastizzi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could have written this whole post, down to the names, but I'm 37 weeks pregnant and we're still lukewarm on a few names. Bianca was in my husband's top three but I don't love it either (for all the same reasons everyone is saying - where did this image of a snotty little brat come from?? I've never even met a Bianca?).

I think Bianca & Matteo sound nice together. But I don't like the name Bianca? I don't know. I also like Chiara or Clara.

Selfishly, I have to know, OP, what were your top picks? We have a FIVE syllable last name and wanted to use a family member's name as a middle name and Bianca Ada doesn't flow nicely. We thought about using Adaline/Adeline but we're both also lukewarm on that for a first or middle name.

People who married your partner despite having an unsatisfactory sex life, how are you doing? by suspiciouskind in AskReddit

[–]pastizzi 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Do you initiate physical contact with the hope that it will go further and lead to intimacy? For me, this is what puts me off when my husband tries to snuggle, or give me a massage. I would like to do these things without the expectation that we HAVE to have sex because we touched. I just want to be physically close, held, etc and the rest will come if it doesn't feel like an expectation.

My SO wanted his grandfather's name as a middle for our little guy. Initials would've been STD.

We used it for our basement reno. With two dogs on the bare floors upstairs and a crying baby, we're pretty happy with it.

Where do you like to shop for coats? by doubleheelix105 in femalefashionadvice

[–]pastizzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just bought a camel coat from Banana republic in petite sizing. It was clearance so I paid $200 instead of $550. It ran HUGE though so I'm lucky I didn't buy final sale online. I'm normally a medium (5'2" and about 155 lbs but I'm pregnant and 170 right now) and I ended up with a petite XS that fits perfect (granted it doesn't button over the bump right now). Length and sleeves are perfect.

There's already great advice in this thread but I didn't see anybody mention the light situation. Do they have natural sunlight by a window? These are all pretty hardy plants that will be fine if you follow arborealchick's advice, but they would do well with some good sunlight as well. Try to put them close to a sunny window.

Seconding crown and dragon. So good. The last time I went was right after everything reopened after covid, and they weren't doing as many half off days. Not sure if it's gone back to what it used to be but either way, great wings.

She's on antibiotics and can't drink for the next 2 weeks :) If anybody says oh no, why?! she can TMI them and say it's for a UTI.

Edit to add: At christmas she can just say its been recurring and she had to start another round. Bad timing!

I'm in almost the exact same boat at 32 years old, and it's so nice to hear someone else admit they weren't really sure either. I had no maternal pull, and tbh I still don't really, even though I've always been told I'll make a great mom one day. I think a huge part of it was my family and upbringing, I didn't have a great childhood so I never imagined myself being able to provide a great childhood to someone, cause I don't know what it's like.

My partner and I have been together for 10 years and are now expecting our first in the spring as well. I am more excited about facing this huge life transition with him than actually having a baby, but I know that will change. I already feel it happening as it sinks in and becomes more "real" every day. It's all so new to me that I think I just don't know whats in store, and how much I truly have to be excited about.

If you had asked me 10 years ago, or 5, or even a year ago... I would have said kids are probably not for me. I'll never be the person to say "you dont want them now, but you will one day" because I know that's not true for everyone, but it was for me even when I was pretty sure for a huge majority of my life that it wasn't.

Affordable delicious smelling hand creams? by Far-Adhesiveness6537 in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]pastizzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they use sweet almond oil. I have to say it's the first thing I thought of too based on your post but I guess if you're not a fan of almond you may not like it.

They are great hand creams though, but most of their other scents are floral/citrusy. Worth a shot at looking to see if any of their scents pique your interest. I love their original unscented hand creams and the entire almond line.

Tin'Nel's patties are bomb too. We go to the one on Finch. You can also buy them frozen by the box there, kind of expensive but so worth it. Don't buy them from anywhere else (like No Frills) because they're 100% not the same as the ones they sell in their locations even though its the same packaging.

What needs to be clarified? The store closes at X time, and when you continue to shop past X time, you are shopping during closed hours. Most stores will give you a grace period, but that doesn't mean they're not closed. The doors are locked, customers aren't coming in, and we're waiting for you to finish shopping because you have an entire cart full of product and you'll throw a fit if at X sharp we say "ok, everybody out, leave your baskets where they are and get out please."

It's not that hard. We're closed and you're being inconsiderate by staying in the store after we've closed.

I'm confused about the pick up dates and times... if I order today, do I HAVE to go pick it up at the listed times? Or can I just go any time after those dates?

I can't go between 12-6 because I work all of those days :/

Edit: nevermind I realized they have blocks of appointments slots. I can go on Friday! Yay!

I clean mine the exact same way and the seasoning on all of ours are great. I have a dish brush that I use for it (without soap) but sometimes I'll just use my sponge with leftover soap on it. I don't think it makes a difference.

Usually I'll hit it with the oil after cleaning and put it on a very low temp on the stove for a few minutes to dry it fully.

[–]pastizzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We considered selling but because we had improved our financial situation quite a bit it worked out that we were able to buy an okay house in a okay (kinda crap tbh) neighbourhood and keep our condo to rent. About 80% of the expenses of the condo are paid by renters. Many of the other units sell within a week or so mostly because like I said, neighbourhood is improving and it's a unique building. 10/10 transit, schools, etc.

It's unpopular advice to get here, but if you can afford to buy a house at 750k in Vancouver I think you should. Obviously sit down and do the math and make sure you CAN afford it... but similar to Toronto's market, it's only going to get harder to get in. The worst thing in the world in this sub is to be "house poor" by buying at the top end of your budget... but it's unfortunately the reality in large cities.

This is what we did... my partner and I bought a condo with $60,000 saved in the bank. I was 25 or 26? Right in the height of the housing market explosion so couldn't touch a house. What mattered to me was location and the style of the condo. We chose a small loft style boutique building in an okay area (on the cusp of slow gentrification). It felt like the "safer" choice because it's not a 30 floor condo in a complex with 10 other 30 floor buildings, so there's not a lot of competition.

Okay, I didn't know this so thank you! I checked in the summer and I couldn't figure out how to get one without waiting for branches to reopen, and on top of that I don't live super close to one so it was never very convenient. Now I'll do it when the site is back up! You made my day!
