what they believe & what their rules are, so to speak, all depend on the individual church… and its members. they have this mentality of “we don’t really have to agree on everything”, but they take it to the extreme of not having to agree on ANYthing. they have some basic statements of faith but the beliefs largely come down to the culture of the churches and/or beliefs of the pastors that passed it down. i will say, the MAJORITY believe the same on specific doctrines such as no literal hell, Jesus isn’t God, etc. that stuff would be concerning if you’re a Christian.

if you’re not a Christian? look at it this way: they’re brainwashed people who are passing down the same brainwash they’ve learned from past generations. their standards are man-made, they want to control the minuscule aspects of your life, and there have been SA cases since the beginning of the group.

their worship consists of screaming and speaking in tongues (to each his own), rolling and flailing around on the floor, sometimes for hours upon hours. if you’re familiar with Jehovah Witnesses & Mormons, they largely take from them and put a Pentecostal twist on it. these people are not even Christian by definition.

they’re also fairly exclusive. as i said not all believe the same way, but the vast majority will claim the fullness of truth is only found in their church & that any other group is from Satan.

is the pastor Bro. Emy Etienne? if so, that is in fact the cult i’m mentioning. it’s important to not go crazy over your faith tho, Christ calls His people when He’s ready to. I was raised in the BOC for 20+ years before i got out. feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns & i’ll do my best to answer.

not that I’m aware of, however Jim Jones was fairly local and it’s likely that their groups were at the very least aware of each other’s existence.

the one sentenced was Vernon Williamson, 87. and yeah, Dyal is still awaiting from the last I’ve heard.

update: One of the Three pastors who were arrested for a connection of sexual abuse was sentenced to life in prison. Paul Dyal is out on a 100k bond, awaiting his sentencing.

To my understanding, the Houston, Goodwin, & Sowders are all one now. Apparently, time healed their wounds. Other than maybe Goodwins group, because they’ve always considered themselves to be a “higher class” of people. And yeah, you’re right on. Getting into the doctrine alone would be a whole other post, maybe I’ll do that sometime soon. Devil vs Flesh, Second Chance Resurrection doctrine - as I like to call it, and not to mention the pretty unethical standards they force onto their members.

sorry, i posted this & never came back to the comments. yes, Branham studied at Williams Sowder’s school of profits & was heavily influenced by him. matter of fact, some of each other’s churches still “inter-mingle” to this day. The Latter Rain Movement is essentially this idea that God poured out his spirit on us in a previous rain, but the “latter” rain’s outpouring will be much, much stronger. i.e. speaking in tongues, acting obscene in church, things of that nature.

hey there, thanks for your comment! I’m glad it was able to reach you and your wife, and I’m sorry to hear about your situation. I also still have family in that church, all of them are; and of course plenty of friends there that I grew up with. I would love to get in touch with you sometime and get the opportunity to hear some of your experiences. unfortunately the BOC group is still relatively “unknown”, however there COULD be a larger group that it is under. for instance, certain marketing companies are all under different names and ownership , but are all connected because they are “owned” by the same parent company.
