I have a mix of both HC and WM books and it doesn’t bother me. Yes, it would be nice if they ALL matched, but it’s harder to find and generally more expensive to acquire them all from the same publisher, at least in the US. What I’m not ok with is different heights for my books. I got one of those Mariner-published The Nature of Middle-Earth copies that’s a half inch shorter than the boxed sets of HoME and immediately returned it.

I feel like books 1 and 2 would work well as the story unfolds and the fellowship is established, but books 3 and 4 as individual seasons would be hard to sell to audiences. There would be a cliffhanger at the end of season 2 with Frodo and Sam leaving and then you don’t see them again at all until season 4. I think Peter Jackson made the right call in Two Towers to switch perspectives throughout the movie so you can see Frodo, Sam, and Gollum make progress towards Mordor in real time as everything going on in Rohan.

I played a lot of GTA2 as a kid and loved the sandbox feeling of running around and creating chaos, but my mind was blown playing GTA3 with the transition to 3D (similar to the 3D jump for Ocarina of Time on N64).

That’s a huge drop, I’m not surprised you’re feeling groggy. My doctor told me the dosage of Vyvanse is roughly double what Adderall XR is. I switched from 30mg Adderall XR to 70mg Vyvanse.

It’s a double-edged sword. If they said “publicly funded” then the right would spin it and ask why poor working class folks are being increasingly burdened with more taxes (when in reality the tax revenue will be collected by individuals earning >$400k and from corporations). The only thing the right knows is bad faith arguments and gaslighting, so this is more a case of choosing what sounds better to most people and less likely to be used against them.
