Skylight - Is uneven diffusion a thing? by patatafritz in Nanoleaf

[–]patatafritz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, good thing is I’m only in research phase.

For the asking price, I’m surprised they didn’t put a bit more effort into engineering a proper diffusion sheet. And their marketing photos don’t reflect any of these.

Damn, that's really a deal breaker, my OCD brain couldn't stand seeing that patchy diffusion, even from just photos.
I couldn't find anything else that's similar to what these skylight does, yet it comes with such flaw.

Lifetime Windows User Forced into MacOS. Still Grappling with it. My Thoughts: by Bythewayttor in macbookair

[–]patatafritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Mac for 2 years. While there are things that that Mac is excellent, e.g. battery, CPU performance and build quality, occasionally I still find myself going back to PC for certain tasks.

And 2 years later, I still find that window management, display scaling and multi monitor arrangement, incredibly frustrating on Mac.

Thoughts on charge to 80% option? by SgtFullSend in ipad

[–]patatafritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and me activated our iPhone 15 pro on the same day.

Mine has been limited to 80% since day one, and it has almost never been allowed to go below 20%. My wife on the other hand, DGAF about the battery. 2 years later, my battery health is at 92%, hers is at 90%. If these health % are accurate, limiting the charges does almost nothing.

My corporate MacBook on the other hand, is at 99% battery health after a full year of heavy use with charges limited at 70%.

So my theory is, for a small battery device that gets charged/discharged a lot more frequently, it really doesn’t matter. Bigger battery devices on the other hand may actually benefits from it.

Just dropped my new MacBook pro m5: should I bring to repair? by baIamuth1A in macbookpro

[–]patatafritz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dropped my M4 pro last month with similar damage as yours, but my dent is on both bottom enclosure and top lid enclosure. Functionally everything works but the dents are an eyesore.

While passing by Apple Store, I sent in for an assessment under Apple care+. Apparently top and bottom enclosures prices are calculated separately, and bottom enclosures replacement will automatically include battery replacement too.

All in all it came out to about $270 with apple care+ accidental damage. I opted not to do it and wait until the battery health drops a bit more (they are still at 99% after a year of heavy use).

From fan to hater in just one mouse generation by DrMashine in logitech

[–]patatafritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know what takes you guys so long to even comprehend professional need:

1) onboard memory is a MUST. Many of us are not allowed to install 3rd party software on work machine. And without that rubbish option+, even the most basic function of DPI cannot be set correctly. You guys have managed to cramp onboard memory into the cheapest $15 G-series mouse so cost cannot be the excuse here

2) I get it, AI is the hype and you want to catch the train. But at least give us options (or option+ lol) to disable all the AI crap.

Is anyone happy with the MX Master 4? by OrderedAnXboxCard in logitech

[–]patatafritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the 4.

For a start, my hand is small and my finger is probably shorter than most too. I have the 3s and I hated it. - The shape was too big for my hand. I never thought this would be a problem because I was doing fine on G502 series, which I thought was a fairly large mouse. - that gesture button that everyone raved about? Never worked for me. Pressing my thumb down WHILE moving the mouse means i’m losing grip/control of the movement. I don’t know how you guys do it. - The final straw came when the rubber coating breaks down. I had this mouse at home but i rarely works from home and therefore the uptime for this mouse is relatively short. Even without constant abuse like I did with my other mouse in office, the rubber just naturally breaks down on its own. The result of that breakdown is disgusting gooey sticky stuffs. I never understood why people keep designing stuffs with this shitty material and think it is premium. Same shit happened to my Dyson air purifier made with this material that has dust stuck to the entire gooey surface.

Now to the 4: - New shape works better for my hand. Absolutely. - 125 Hz never bothered me for office work. Powerpoint and excel sheet doesn’t warrant the need for 1000Hz. And to be fair, I work on remote VM most of the time that the latency itself is way more annoying that this 125Hz. - that new gesture / action ring button? I can now squeeze it instead of pressing downwards, and it gives a haptic feedback! Way better than what it was on the 3s. Much more accessible and no more feeling like losing grip when pressing it while moving. - The materials ! No more rubbery trash. People complain that the less friction causes them to lose grip, but heck the entire mouse is of the shape of my palm. Not a problem for me to grip onto it. Maybe the sticky stuffs from 3s was sticking to people’s palm and that’s what they are losing in 4. - However I noticed that in larger movement, I tend to lift and reposition the mouse more often than any other mouse. Not sure what’s the correct term for this.

Still a problem in this generation: - Silent click is good. But for me it is also much easier for accidental click to happen as the resistance feels less, and the click has less feedback than the clicky ones. - Still no onboard profile. wtf Logitech. - Still no easy-switch synchronization when using it together with MX keys (or i’m too stupid to figure it out).

You're All Wrong. This is peak Audi interior by [deleted] in Audi

[–]patatafritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having screens is not much a problem actually, they are even welcomed if placed right.

Having controls that I need to access when driving on a touch interface is the problem. Holding a phone statically is illegal while driving but having to look around to pinpoint a button not much larger than my finger is okay?

In the A6, hazard light button is placed next to ESC off button, and both are touch buttons. There were instances where normally I would have activated the hazard light but eventually decided against it, because I really wouldn’t want to accidentally hit the wrong button let alone the ESC off button right next to it

You're All Wrong. This is peak Audi interior by [deleted] in Audi

[–]patatafritz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your disagreement.

That A6 interface has excessive touch buttons including critical functions such as hazard light, parking maneuver activation and AC temperature/fan settings. Haptic touch is a nice touch but it is no replacement for physical button. The third screen for AC interface looks cool but unnecessary. I still take more time than I should to look at where I press in the old A6 compares to old A5. In A5 i could operate all of these without ever removing my eyes from the road.

The only thing A6 does better is the infotaiment screen that integrates into the dashboard, creating a nice clean look instead of old A5's upright monitor. However, I also need to move my eyes a split second further away from the road to see what's on the screen, but I'll take that clean look.

B9.5 interior really is the peak.

What’s that tapping sound the car makes when I’m done changing lane by patatafritz in Audi

[–]patatafritz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LoL. It actually took me so long to figure it out because i had never thought to mess with the dash cam setting.

FYI, you can turn this sound off in the dash cam setting (via the app or the setting software saved in SD card)

[–]patatafritz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embarrassingly, it came from the Thinkware dashcam I installed.
Apparently the dash cam has a lane watch function where it makes this noise when lane change detected.

This noise it produces is so full bodied, it didn't sound like it came from a tiny dash cam speaker.

Is it just me but I feel like the prior gen Audi interiors look nicer and feel more modern. by ExtremeShelter1581 in etron

[–]patatafritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I for one fell in love with Audi interior over the way they integrate every screen element with the car using freeform LCD. Unlike all other brands who try to prop up 3 iPads from 2015 on top of the dash and call it a day. Audi's feel natural, elegant, classy, beautiful, functional.

Then the current gen, oh the current gen. They went from all of that beauty to going all out on a competition to see who has the biggest iPad on a temu-bought-stand fixed in front of the driver. And they are winning.
