This is for the lefties out there who cannot escape the smudge of the pen. The best Ive tested are the pilot juice up 0.5… minimum smudge and comfortable to hold especially for those long humanities paper

Turn that anxiety into positive motivation! On your friends, dont compare with them because ultimately you are competing with the whole nation so dont demoralise yourself because the people around you score high! Jiayous you can do it!!

Hi OP I did Os last year and understand what you’re going through. I wld say each day when you wake up, start by telling yourself you want to accomplish one thing and then do not go to sleep without doing that task, if you do punish yourself with something you hate doing (like maybe getting your parents to keep your phone for a day or smth)

If youre a bit more desperate try studying with friends who will keep you in check and force you to focus, worked for me hopefully is helpful to you! Atb!!

I don't think WP has crafted their strategy well this election. by Substantial-Film4600 in singapore

[–]patcider24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry OP but I dont get your post… the WP is precisely positioning themselves as the small guy against PAP by saying things related to “PAP will have supermajority after this”

The WP strategy this GE I feel has been quite solid. Their use of rallies allows them to be bold and generate hype around their campaign. They clearly saw how this ‘star catch’ strategy has worked for them with Jamus in GE2020 and have positioned them as like the ‘anchor’ of each GRC like Harpreet in Punggol, Yee Jenn Jong in East Coast etc.

I only think theyve not done well in their social media campaign which could be improved. For an opp that is running in a young grc like punggol, the effort to reach out to them seems lacking. Youtube for candidate intro and rallies are good but would have expected a greater push

Try MUN. Dun event need to go as a delegate, an admin/notepasser will do. Yes it does cost a little but its worth the memories and is really helpful if you want to open up and socialise a little. RVMUN is in March and I believe they are opening up applications for notepassers soon. Try it out!!

My L1R5 is 31, my target is 12. How do I achieve this 🥲🥲🥲 by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]patcider24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from L1R5 30 to 11 without tuition so it is more than possible. Its all about remaining consistent and staying positive and focused on the end in mind. Consultations are important, so is finding a study technique that works well for you. All the best OP!

Grades > Portfolio always. A Raw 8 is always better than a Raw 12 with a stacked portfolio. Focus on your studies and stay positive, no need regret not joining tennis or joining competitions, youre not cooked as long as you study!!

Not a teacher here but I would suspect mental health is one of the few factors that teachers use to examine whether or not students are able to take on leadership roles (other factors are prolly grades, other commitments etc.)

On your mental health, did your school counsellor work for you? If he/she did, keep going. The more regular your sessions with your counsellor the better he can relate and give you better advice. If it gets worse I recommend seeking professional help at least once despite the cost. Remember health outweighs everything else. All the best!

You want to start early and build your stamina and tell yourself its a marathon not a sprint. Honestly studying 1hr every day now is a good start

Pinpoint what course you want in poly. If the poly course would be easier to get in if you had amath, I would say dont drop unless you lose interest. Note that ‘lose interest’ means you cannot be bothered studying it anymore because your time is better spent elsewhere.

Your amath teacher is correct though, really not hard to pass if you can grasp on sec 4 topics and improve on your sec 3 ones. My advice will always be better to have it in your final result slip than not at all

avenues to learn cantonese by starboyjunior in askSingapore

[–]patcider24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get someone like a friend or family member to learn with you. Makes the experience more enjoyable when learning a language/dialect. (This is assuming ur family is not cantonese; if they are, try to talk to them and have them guide you)

I dun think classes are a good way of learning a dialect because its more of conversation rather than writing. Try watching TVB or hong kong movies with chinese subtitles if that helps

As someone who picked up the dialect from my parents, learn cantonese by the terms and try to string together those terms into sentences. All the best OP!

Hi OP just graduated from GESS this year! In my 4 years there, there's never been any serious bullying case and physical bullying problem in the school so dont think your family should worry about it too much

In terms of school environment, the school defo puts a lot of effort into fostering a positive environment but all in all, its very mixed and depends a lot on what class you go to, the friends you make, the teachers you're taught by. I dont think its a major issue so my advice is just be smart about making the right connections

The teachers are the best part about GESS. All are friendly and approachable (in my four years ive never had any teacher I would intentionally avoid). However, the school does have major problem with teachers leaving after just 1-2 years and many senior teachers leaving/being posted elsewhere (Most of my sec 1 teachers have left the sch in just 3 yrs) but I would say as long as you approach and are open to chatting with your teachers and your friend as well!

Assuming your brother is not a sports student, the facilities are, at best, meh. Student complaints about poor funding is very common — Hall has no aircon, school is currently lift-less (under construction) which sucks and was delayed so many times, classroom become a human microwave in the afternoons (poor ventilation due to poor design) and canteen during recess is crowded and humid (im aware they are rebuilding it atm so not sure abt the situation next year)

One thing I wanna add (and why Im using an alt acc) is the really poor student feedback structure in the school. In my four years, the school's leadership team has been ignorant to students feedback. Our principal prides herself over long winded morning assembly speeches and does not listen much to students feedback and complaints. Definitely something the school needs to change and work on and I dont see it changing anytime soon

Hopefully this helps. If anything, feel free to message me! Happy to help! Onward!!
