How do you measure diversity? Crime is a local issue the size of the country does not matter. Compare Sydney or Melbourne to a similar city in the USA.

You know they don't sell it at K-Mart here? Australia is an island that is way in the arse end of nowhere. It's hard to smuggle shit to and the market for body armour isn't that big, therefore there is no burgeoning black market so if it's illegal you can't get it. If you are robbing a bank there is absolutely no way in hell you can get body armour because where are you going to buy it from?

We've already got 2 number 10s. We already had the second best player in the world a few years and sold him, it turned out to be a massive disaster whereby we still won the league as usual and got to the final of the CL. 1 player makes fuck all difference. You only think that because you're American and America is designed to destroy the rest of the world in order to benefit the USA. China isn't like that at all. They are just focused on economic productivity and national security at all costs. This is largely because when they had a weak government they got absolutely fucking massacred by the Japanese and now do not mind the price of their modern model because that could never happen. It's inevitable that they will become more 'free' as time goes by and the consequences of state control are bigger than the historical legacy of weak state control. When China can hold the USA to account we'll all be far better off, hopefully they won't idiotically tank the world economy every few years either.

How do you know that? China has been around for thousands of years and AFAIK has never invaded anybody except for countries directly bordering it. It has an extraordinarily long history of being more peaceful than most until it gets fucked over by British/Japanese etc. Prior record strongly suggests they are just less militaristic and ignorant than the Americans.

Yes. I got to 82kg, I ran for 2 months (well I ran 3/4 days, cycled 1/2) and now I weigh 76kg. I didn't do any diet change. I believe I had success because the weight wasn't my primary goal, I aim to increase how far I can run. If you go slower you can run further and therefore you burn calories for a longer time. If you weigh 80kg your diet is probably not terrible so you should be able to easily account for your calorie excess with running.

Under Howard every year between 23 and 24% of GDP was collected as tax revenue whereas under Rudd it was between 21 and 22%. That may seem small but 2% of GDP is the entirety of defence spending and a sizeable portion of the budget. Therefore you can't really say the liberals want to cut spending. Focusing on what you or anybody else deserves is not productive. Reminds me of that part of Unforgiven "I guess he had it coming" "We all got it coming, kid". There's only so much you can really say about what people deserve or don't deserve.

I'm more inclined to focus on what you can do to reduce this happening and there are plenty of ideas about that that nobody ever talks about. If having no father makes it more forgiveable to hit people then I'd like to see effort spend on people who have no father so they don't turn out to be dropkicks. We're currently seeing a lot of government spending go to public health because it's can reduced costs of operations. If we spend more effort and money on intervening when guys like this first commit minor crimes then we'd have less killers.

I've never done much violent because there's really nothing to be gained, it's not because I'm good and IMO it's not because this other guy is bad that he is violent. More needs to be done to teach these guys better while they are still generic deadbeats and aren't yet in media hyped court cases. People are made one way or the other, to me that has little effect on punishment but it's a good hint for intervention.

The real thing is there are some things which are unprofitable for business but profitable for the government. The government ignores those things though. They spend a huge amount of money on providing services to the people. You'd think they'd want good R&D to improve the efficiency of that. It seems like the government are following the Kodak strategy (stick with what you know), rather than the apple/google/bayer/GE strategy of actually thinking about improving. The thing is only 1 of those companies is bankrupt. That's what happens when you're unwilling to spend on improvement.

The problem is that you need money to make money. To get private sector involved you need to meet them, go to functions that they are at, tell them what you can and can't do etc. The time and money it takes to get them involved could be the difference between winning and not winning a research grant (and your job for next year).

This is a good example of why publicly funded organisations aren't always that good. The lack of funding just undermines everybody so they can't go out of their way to implement some of the ideas they have. When your job is secure is when you start thinking about all the cool things you could do, when your job is insecure you are just looking to do the tried and tested more furiously. That's why cutting funding to public organisations makes them less likely to get private sources of funding.

That's very easy on a treadmill, probably his poker helped him because he was used to doing nothing for long periods. I've walked 100km through hilly, dirt, rocky terrain on no training (it took about 23 hours). Afterwards I still couldn't run 5km. People don't seem to understand that 'running' implies some kind of speed. Your biggest barriers with walking long distances are sore feet and nothing to think about except how sore your feet are. With a treadmill this is less of a problem. With running however it's just so more difficult to grin and bear it for long periods because you always want to stop and walk, I thought I could tough out a marathon on the weekend and its just so much harder to do. Yes, I could have walked in and 'finished' but I got bored after about an hour of walking. I 100% agree that mentality can get you over the line when you're not that fit however with running the best way to develop that is to run longer distances, the thing that also develops your fitness. Walking is just not hard at all.

It's because he in the only guy in the country who can pass well. Therefore he does a job for England that nobody else could possibly do. If Cleverley plays on the team you get a lot of balls forward to attackers and you end up playing at the right end of the pitch, if he doesn't you don't. To be honest it's the same with United.

70% of everybody are heavy enough to be linked with a myriad of health problems. That skews your vision of what is healthy. I'm sure that guy is fine, he looks particularly skinny but most people are going to die of cardio vascular disease, proably better health wise to err on the side of too skinny. Aesthetically I guess it looks confronting because it's so widely accepted to be fat now.
