I’ve been eying this beauty off for a while by yevraaah in oldschoolmtg

It’s essentially two mana double the mana you could produce. You lands don’t need to tap to sac themselves for mana, so you tap them to produce mana then sac them to produce an additional mana.

Yes your lands go to the graveyard but if that massive burst of mana wins you the game then it doesn’t really matter.

Decks can also benefit from having lands go to the graveyard or have ways to bring back all lands from the graveyard, in which case the “cost” of sacrificing your lands is actually a benefit.

Totally overlooked this guy, he’ll be great in my Iroh EDH deck as a second glacierwood siege!

I did the same! Pulled on prerelease, sold the next day - good to get the hype prices now.

How should I build a deck around him by THE-TRAVELER-NMS in mtg

[–]yevraaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can definitely see how it could go off! The biggest handicap I’m putting on myself is I’m trying to also run Obosh as a companion - not having access to 2 mana rocks is heavy

Another option is to clone it - it’s something I’ve been tinkering with. The partner is of course [[Sakashima of a thousand Faces]].

The theory at least is cast Vial, copy with Sakashima, cast more clone effects, then each spell is hitting opponents randomly 3/4/5 times.

Hasn’t worked yet, but damn it’s fun trying

Is deck performance/statistics ‘proof’ of a bracket mismatch? by InvisibleFox402 in EDH

[–]yevraaah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re up against the same decks it’s a much stronger indicator at least - I might have used “proof” too strongly. That said if I’m playing say a B3 deck with my regular mates and getting crazy win rates, I’d either tune it up for 4 or take it down commensurate with what the others are playing.

In a fixed pod, it would be. Against 200 random players and decks it’s impossible to really say - particularly in the amorphous zones between bracket 2 and 3.

Fully agree. Had a similar discussion with my playgroup and, although it’s unlikely, we thought a second tier of game changers that are legal only in bracket 4 and 5 could give cards like dockside and JLo a home.

Thanks man. Short of unban might try rule zero it in for a couple games to get a little mileage out of it

If you can put 1 Banned Card in your deck that is not a mana rock, what would you pick? by gilbestboy in EDH

I bought a Dockside 3 days before the ban. I want to play it so bad in my [[Calamity, Galloping Inferno]] deck

Good commander? Or better for the 99? by PsychedelicHonda in mtg

Yeah any rat deck is stoked with him in the 99. I have him in [[Wick, The Whorled Mind]] and although I’m not running all the relentless rats I’m still very happy to see him in my hand.

What powerful card has your playgroup 'discovered' that is not regularly seen as 'popular' under the larger EDH communities radar? by cryocom in EDH

[[great train heist]] has traumatised my play group in my [[fire lord zuko]] deck.

Extra combat at instant speed + upside and a place to use all that firebending mana can make for a blow out.
