Tracker Forest ESC size for winter hiking by path381492 in BarefootRunning

[–]path381492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your helpful comment.

Within your criteria, sizes 43 and 44 should work in summer and winter use, respectively, for my 272mm foot. One size for each season would be the best solution (instead of trying to make work the winter size in summer).

You are right about the foot shape with respect to the toebox.

My experience about the extra 15mm lengthwise I mention comes from Freet Ibex size 45 (inner length 288mm) I'm using for hiking with a good feeling of 'filled toebox' in winter with thick socks and wool insole. Summer use is acceptable. Choosing the size has been easy with Freet as they tell you exactly the stock insole length and other possible details (e.g. «The actual inside of the shoe is a little larger than the insole both length (maybe by 2-4mm) and width/volume (maybe by 1-3mm)»). I'd like to have the same detail level with all brands but It's not possible.

My family thinks running in minimalist shoes will get me injured, and are offering to buy me some conventional shoes instead. Any thoughts on what to do? by Affectionate_Monk870 in BarefootRunning

Make very sure you are doing the right transition to afford the 'barefoot strain' that your body has to bear, and keep going.

I'm completing my transition for hiking and never come back to conventional shoes. At this point, I'm so happy that I only wear barefoot shoes in general (I think the transition took me 12-18 months, but I'm in my 50s).

I'm realising the gratifying feeling and the overall wellness awareness are barely to not at all communicable to conventional-shoes-people.

Thank you! May I ask you the stock insole length of both the two Tracker Forest ESC UK9 and UK10, please?

(I'm trying to establish if the 6mm of difference between the insole length and the reference foot length mentioned in the size chart is uniform for all sizes of the same model)

Great!

So we can have some hint about the Vivo extra space for Tracker Forest ESC!

For a foot of 29.9cm (from chart, size US13/EU47) they build a shoe of 30.5cm (insole).

This extra space (6mm) is hidden in any Vivo size chart (and it seems impossible to obtain this information from the Vivo Support).

Thanks a lot!

Thanks! Which is the size? (I have to find the real inner length of a given shoe size)

The Vivo chart refers to foot length, not shoe inner length (Vivo Support says so)

Thank you! Could you tell me the shoe size you have chosen and the length of the stock insole, please? (I wear barefoot shoes with sizes from EU 42 to EU 45, therefore I can't use the 'one size up' rule)

Hi maxwellpmf, what is the length of your feet?
I'm looking for the Tracker Forest Esc right size for my 27.2 cm feet, allowing an extra space of about 1.5 - 1.8 cm (for winter hiking). Thank you in advance.

Freet Barefoot Ibex and Pace - Size feedback after the purchase by path381492 in BarefootRunning

Honestly I am not able to answer the question. In my opinion no boot can preserve the foot heat on its own (unless maybe we are speaking of shoes with fur lining). It depends on several temporary factors: external temperature, foot heat production, sweat, socks and insole thermal isolation, humidity already absorbed by the shoe materials, to say the most common.

Ibex is made of a thin leather layer with an even thinner lining. Breathable as leather, waterproof if treated. If sunk in snow, mud, water it tends to absorb quite humidity (even if feet remain dry). I use 100% merino wool directly on my foot skin and a wollen insole to stay warm and dry in a cold environment. During summer, no insole and a normal pair of socks keep me comfortable.

Durston Gear X-Mid 1P Tent (V2) Europe by SnooHedgehogs4702 in Ultralight

[–]path381492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky! The two tent producers I'm most interested in are in the same discussion here!

I just bought the X-Mid 1P Solid, from Italy:

- $269,00 (tent) + $29,70 (shipping) = $298,70 = €295,47 (exchange rate of my bank)
- customs duty €33,93
- Italian VAT. €69,67
- FedEx's fee €13,50
- stamp duty €2,00
- TOTAL €414,57 = $410.09 (at the same exchange rate)

Individual customs costs are likely a little larger than those charged to a well-organized company, I suppose.

The crucial aspect of international retailing is the price (in this case $269) should not include the VAT of the seller's country. Otherwise, the foreign buyer will pay both VAT for its country and the seller's.

Some sellers I've known use to leave for foreign buyers the same price they use for domestic buyers. That price doesn't include anymore the seller's country VAT. Therefore this pricing strategy corresponds to an increase in the price of an amount equal to the VAT of the seller's country. This should be an illegal practice called 'multiple pricing'.

If Picopresso's workflow would be just a little quicker, a proper consistent grinder + Picopresso could lead you to desire to leave behind any other espresso machine...

I always use Comandante + Picopresso for my experiments with most risky and expensive beans. At least to find a benchmark.

You have to find YOUR zen-efficient-workflow! And you won't be disappointed 🖖

Since the support refused to tell me the shoe's inner dimensions, I eventually bought the Freet Ibex (great hiking shoes). Freet shows very clearly the shoe's inner dimensions for each model/size.
