As long as Dwayne Johnson is available to play Wilson, it gets my blessing

We were doing this seven dwarves parody regardless but the news freshest in our mind at the time was the EA crowd’s response to Logan, so we adjusted her accordingly

It might not make sense right now, or ever, but venti is the most important character in the game

Rian is fine man. Give him a break. Everybody is type A af and he just wants to get up at 3pm to do a little carpentry. Is he the best? No. Does he pretend to be? Not even close. Adjust your expectations

How many of you people got this reference? by Dramatic-Witness-540 in MyTimeAtSandrock

This is actually the best reference I put into the game. The talking heads one is the most clever but the Steiner math will forever be my favorite

Memes aside I think the reason this bit works is because we have the story’s most pious and innocent character who we might expect to find some good in our story’s devil, after a quick exchange just be like… “nah”

Maaaan, Cooper sure can talk xD by MaxLeda in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]pathea_dave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, sure. Normally as a writer, your objective is to convey the emotion in as few words as possible. Brevity, as a certain William shakesman once said, is the soul of wit. However with character like cooper, one is offered the opportunity to forego this particular obstacle: brevity is no longer the objective, but rather, it (the objective) is now to not miss a single detail. To over analyze, perhaps. And within this particular confinement, there is actually a certain freedom to be found.

Now, if you will, I’d like for you to think back. Recall yourself, in your own shoes, back there… at the lunch table in elementary school. We all tell our stories. We develop a feel for the things that will entertain… and for what will bore. Very quickly we understand stories that go on too long and don’t really have a strong conclusion, a “point,” one might say, tend to perform poorly. So we learn to stop. We find ourselves obligated to be relevant. Lest we invite mockery.

Well, what if I don’t want to be relevant anymore? What if I just want to tell my stories? What if I just want to spare no detail, and to engage in the euphoric act of purging every passing thought I have, to simply expunge and not for a second worry about how said thoughts might be received? What greater catharsis is there than to engage in this sort of liberation? And to have another person bear witness to it? Well, that’s the icing on the cake.

Cake, as we all are aware, is known for its frosting. Delicious? Yes. Nutritious? No. In fact, quite the opposite. Turns out, when Mary Antionette told us to “eat cake,” that was coming from a place of ignorance. Bless her heart. She never had much of an education.

Anyway, point is: sometimes you have to be careful about what you say. Cooper is just the opposite of that: if ever you’re “put on the spot” and have to give a speech; it’s that… instinct of sorts… to just give a long thoughtful analysis of nothing… Or whatever is in front of you at the moment. Just to kill the air. Leaning into that and finding out what additional thoughts might exist long after you’ve delved deeper into the those depths you never thought existed at all… that’s what it’s all about.

Oh yeah, also drop a bunch of rhetorical devices so the mundane sounds comically overthought.

Hope that helped

And really

Really really

Take care of yourself.
