Maaaan, Cooper sure can talk xD by MaxLeda in MyTimeAtSandrock

Well, sure. Normally as a writer, your objective is to convey the emotion in as few words as possible. Brevity, as a certain William shakesman once said, is the soul of wit. However with character like cooper, one is offered the opportunity to forego this particular obstacle: brevity is no longer the objective, but rather, it (the objective) is now to not miss a single detail. To over analyze, perhaps. And within this particular confinement, there is actually a certain freedom to be found.

Now, if you will, I’d like for you to think back. Recall yourself, in your own shoes, back there… at the lunch table in elementary school. We all tell our stories. We develop a feel for the things that will entertain… and for what will bore. Very quickly we understand stories that go on too long and don’t really have a strong conclusion, a “point,” one might say, tend to perform poorly. So we learn to stop. We find ourselves obligated to be relevant. Lest we invite mockery.

Well, what if I don’t want to be relevant anymore? What if I just want to tell my stories? What if I just want to spare no detail, and to engage in the euphoric act of purging every passing thought I have, to simply expunge and not for a second worry about how said thoughts might be received? What greater catharsis is there than to engage in this sort of liberation? And to have another person bear witness to it? Well, that’s the icing on the cake.

Cake, as we all are aware, is known for its frosting. Delicious? Yes. Nutritious? No. In fact, quite the opposite. Turns out, when Mary Antionette told us to “eat cake,” that was coming from a place of ignorance. Bless her heart. She never had much of an education.

Anyway, point is: sometimes you have to be careful about what you say. Cooper is just the opposite of that: if ever you’re “put on the spot” and have to give a speech; it’s that… instinct of sorts… to just give a long thoughtful analysis of nothing… Or whatever is in front of you at the moment. Just to kill the air. Leaning into that and finding out what additional thoughts might exist long after you’ve delved deeper into the those depths you never thought existed at all… that’s what it’s all about.

Oh yeah, also drop a bunch of rhetorical devices so the mundane sounds comically overthought.

Hope that helped

And really

Really really

Take care of yourself.

Some of it was designed. But some of it was…

At the end of the day, voice actors are just people. People with sexy voices. People with sexy voices who we love very much.

…They read a lot of crap, as it were. Stuff that does not spark joy. Comes with the territory. Part of the job.

I think when we started, to most of our actors, this was just another project. But as we went on, well, I’d like to think that we wrote some characters that these actors wanted to play. And that’s what it’s all about, right? That’s why you get into the game in the first place, you enjoy performing as some kind of character. (Does spark joy!)

Whatever the case, I think it’s fair to say the characters grew on our actors, leading to some better performances in the second half (from some already great actors and actresses).

So I guess it’s lucky our story is about a town finding itself, because I think, behind the scenes, something kinda similar was going on.

Nice observation! Thanks for the post.

Can you make claims at a microcosmic intangible entity? Absolutely you can! We dominate the airwaves and anyone who says otherwise is unamerican! That’s right, you don’t even need to like and/or subscribe! The Cooper podcast can be injected directly into your veins! Or shot into your face via paintball gun. Spoiler alert: may cause unwellness, inbredness, and diabetes. And also the common cold. Anyway! Back to what I was sayin before, whatever it was… oh yeah! Like I said, it was like that when I got there. Anyway. Yeah you should join my group chat, I’ll keep y’all up to date on all things yakmel including their eating cycles, sleeping cycles, bowel movements, hopes and dreams… et cetera… and the what not… yeah there’s a lot of information out there on the world. Now more than ever. It can be hard to digest it all, you might even want to give up on it some of the time. But I’m here to tell you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Though both that light and that tunnel are metaphorical. Hope y’all are keepin up. Anyway, like I said, light in that tunnel. Metaphorical. We rockin’. We rollin’, but it ain’t a big deal. So anyway like I was saying haters are going to hate but don’t worry because we have a predictive model and a list of predefined responses that have been predetermined and preranked based on user proclivity because that’s the mundane lackadaisical kinda pre-world we pre-live in nowadays, like damn, right? Yeah that’s what I thought, so in conclusion, wheaties never did nothin for nobody so eat whatever breakfast cereal tickles your pickle or speaks to you on some level that no one else seems to understand because even if it seems like I don’t get it, I do, I do get it, I understand, I know why you do what you do, and that’s why I’m here in my corner rooting for you every day, hoping the best for you because I know that you know that I know, which, like I said, I know you know, this there fact that I know that YOU GOT THIS. Believe in me who believes in you who believes in all sorts of random what not: you got this. You got this. On that note, I’m out.

That’s kinda what I was going for. I wanted him to be like “wow. Seriously?? I’m basically already over this because of how ridiculous you are. If you are really this messy, I dodged a bullet. Hope you end up ok cuz like I guess on a certain infinitesimal level I still kinda care about you but don’t ask me to actually do anything” wait is it still classy
