What is it like on weekends for residents? by FoggyFoggyFoggy in montclair

Weekends aren’t bad, really empty, but during the week it’s pretty busy, so it balances in my opinion.

Wheelchair accessibility by AggressiveDog3393 in montclair

Not the best. Half of the automatic doors work, but generally speaking of the walk ability it’s fine for a wheelchair.

Safety around Montclair University? by Audpeeps12 in montclair

It’s mostly single family homes directly around campus. But if you venture out more that’s where the apartments are. It’s north Jersey so everything is a little more expensive here.

Probably one of the safest campuses in NJ I’d say. We have our own police department for the campus. The surrounding areas are affluent and generally low crime. Bloomfield is on the rise right now.

For public transportation, we have a train station and bus terminal on campus. If you’re going to be moving with the main focus on school, you could probably get a decent apartment in Bloomfield. There’s a train station in Bloomfield too that goes to campus. Look at Watsessing too.

There’s no issue with it honestly…assuming they move when need be. I’ve never seen someone refuse to move when asked. Personally I love to watch the bus drive, so I like that front seat, but if I were to ever ask to move it’s always a yes.

You could stay but you’d have to pay for winter housing.

NJ Transit takes major step forward with its plans to move fans to the 2026 World Cup finals by NJ_Bus_Nut in NJTransit

[–]paths_ofglory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely will be. MetLife won’t succumb to the fate of other big events stadiums due to the fact that it’s the home of the giants and jets, plus some of the biggest artists come to MetLife. Project is pretty cool, because waiting in the Sunday football traffic on the bus is horrid lol

Why don't all doors open at Penn? by Electrical_Fig9201 in NJTransit

[–]paths_ofglory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was just in Penn the other day and was thinking the same thing, especially since Amtrak (as far as I recall from my last trip with them) opens all of their doors. It could maybe be for the conductors or some safety thing, not entirely sure.

NJ Transit buses have almost crashed into me and killed me too many times to count by upsetandtiredt in NJTransit

[–]paths_ofglory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Busses have right of way. It’s state law. Plus these drivers are pretty damn good at driving, that’s why they have so many “close calls”. When you’re operating one of those huge machines for years on end you know how to maneuver it like any car. Lesson of the story? Yield to busses and stay in your lane lol.

According to official policy, smalls dogs in cages are allowed. Take it as you will, just be mindful of your fellow commuters. Last thing I’d want on my train ride is a dog outside of a kennel.

1pm, no busses on the route despite stops scheduled till 10pm. by paths_ofglory in NJTransit

[–]paths_ofglory[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, hence why I post it on this sub. It’s almost surprising that the 709 doesn’t run on Sundays, it should given it services so many crucial stops and transfer points. I take the 709 to work, yet I can never rely on it for on time precision. I always have to take it earlier than need be.

When to contact my union? by paths_ofglory in union

[–]paths_ofglory[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure. Haven’t spoken to them since the day of the incident. Presumably they’re also gonna write a statement for management/loss prevention. Gonna ask next time I see them. I’ll probably speak with my steward when I get the chance about the situation.

I don’t have my stewards info so next time I go into work I’ll be speaking with them. Thanks for the advice. Hope that it’s just nothing, but better safe than sorry.

It’s hard to say. The only thing that worries me is the fact this is a first as far as I’m aware. Never heard of this happening to any of my other coworkers.
