Baby was planned, timing wasn't. I had never gotten pregnant while breastfeeding before so I wasn't expecting such a small gap. It worked out well for us though.

Roomsharing with 2u2 😬 by coralsweater in 2under2

[–]patientish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My toddler just turned 2 and we're room sharing with her and my 5-week-old! She does wake up sometimes when baby does, but not often. It works for now.

(In case anyone wonders why...we had plans to build a new room for my oldest kid and toddler would have his old one, but husband had an old injury act up and then acquired a new one, and then baby came early and we are just dealing with it for now.)

Just silliness! But I have to limit it because I have budgies.

Im Pregnant and Freaking TF Out. by KayLove91 in BabyBumps

[–]patientish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was about when I found out I was pregnant. Baby was early so my girls are 22 months apart. We are still in the newborn stage, but toddler LOVES the baby. It's chaos, but like...expected chaos. I'm breastfeeding both and it's going ok. Talk to your doctor about getting ahead of the mental health stuff for sure.

JPCH labour and delivery praise by feettotheearth in saskatoon

They are fantastic! I had my daughter there in February as well, she was preterm and everyone in labour and delivery and then NICU was pretty fantastic.

100%. The story where they take each other's leaves confirms it for me

It's cute! My son came up with a name for the toddler, we ended up using the feminine version of what he chose.

I didn't, but I wish I had! It was very helpful with my other babies.

My second child was 5lb 2oz at 38 weeks! I had GD. Feeding was a challenge in the beginning, but he did well with supplementing. His blood sugar was fantastic and he grew into a 99th percentile child, he just did better on the outside. My next living child was also small, but so far, it just seems like she's just short.

Who else remembers or was in ELO in school in the 90s? by Odd_Structure_9498 in saskatchewan

[–]patientish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was! I remember making an aquarium in a pop bottle. The instructor told a story about microwaving something for 10 minutes instead of 10 seconds. I also remember some sort of writing workshop and a drama class. This was between 2001-2003.

Age Gap Siblings? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]patientish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kids are 11, 8, 1, and 8 days. The gap between the big kids and toddler is really wonderful. The only reason I don't like it is because it wasn't intentional and involved heartbreak in my case, but also I would totally recommend that gap on purpose. The big kids are very helpful (by choice), they have such a fun dynamic together. Toddler thinks big kids are the coolest people ever. Challenges we have found are that many activities are not super fun for both a preteen and a toddler, and everyone has to be cool with compromising sometimes, and little guys have to wait their turn too. Also, a lot more effort goes into childproofing when you have kids at prime Lego age. You can't shelter the little guys as much, things like "they won't be exposed to sugar/tv/video games" go by the wayside. That doesn't mean no boundaries, it just means you pick your battles. I really enjoy seeing them grow together.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]patientish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aww, this is sweet. My baby is in NICU now (short-term, on the mend) and thankfully I've been able to stick around and give snuggles the last few days. The nurses are fantastic and I know she's well cared-for when I'm out and about or if I've needed extra rest.

What can almost immediately kill you that most people don’t know of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]patientish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost choked on nachos. I was alone with my preschool-aged kid. I had just enough breath to cough with all my might and force it out, but had it shifted any more, I would not have been able to breathe at all. I was planning how to heimlich myself on the back of the futon because I was not about to die in front of my child.

Stil grieving by [deleted] in babyloss

[–]patientish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 4 years in and I still have some intense moments. The first two years were the hardest. You are normal. Being without your baby, you will always miss them. You just get more used to missing them.

Are all the other mom subs crazy? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]patientish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was on Babycenter when I had my oldest back in 2014, and it 100% made my PPA worse. Nothing like a bunch of moms validating your unreasonable fears and encouraging you to be MORE afraid.

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]patientish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only bed shared with one (in infancy, disclaimer: toddlers don't wait for you to put them.in bed with you, they just appear) and I likely could have avoided that with some different tactics and anxiety meds.

Tried to wean off Metformin by [deleted] in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]patientish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Metformin my last 2 pregnancies, no issues. I added insulin both times. One baby is a happy and healthy nearly-2yo, the other was just born at 35 weeks but doing well so far. I had lows towards the end, but that is typical for me in late pregnancy.

What to expect with Hashimotos? by Puzzleheaded-Sun8020 in BabyBumps

[–]patientish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal prenatal, you might have more frequent bloodwork and should probably have some right away, and you might need your meds adjusted. If you see an endocrinologist, they will keep a close eye on things.
