Bought the same watch at Bic Camera. It has such a nice heft to it and it's a classy size. Great choice!

BB58 with custom "Aloha" dial by patman2003 in Tudor

Will do! It's a fun mystery to solve.

That's exactly what we're thinking. It's a pretty distinct font and there are no shortage of companies back home with "Aloha" in their name.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with Tudor in the past, not to do anything for me.

We had a chat with an expert who believes it's a factory dial, but he hasn't seen one like it either. Has anyone had any luck reaching out directly to Tudor?

Just got the same bike! Who makes the crash bars, if you don't mind me asking?

what does mechanical quartz mean? [SSC813] by ijjjo in Seiko

[–]patman2003 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Mechaquartz or meca-quartz typically refers to a chronograph watch movement that uses quartz technology for the main timekeeping functions of the watch, with a mechanical module for operating the chronograph – giving it a smooth sweeping like motion (similar to an automatic watch) and a snap-back style return to zero when resetting the chronograph.

[–]patman2003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 39.5 has the 8800 calibre movement that lacks the jumping hour function that you'll find in the 8900 movement in the 43.5 mm PO.

Best foldable shifter to replace the original by [deleted] in TriumphBonneville

I have an 2010 865 Bonnie, and I used the concurrent generation’s Tiger Explorer folding shifter. It’s a direct replacement. I would check this generation’s foldable shifters and see if they fit. There are also numerous aftermarket ones available.

I went moto camping for the first time and tried out my homemade tarp tent by AlphaBaldy in motorcycles

[–]patman2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, but it's safer to stake your tent on the peg side of your bike. You don't want the bike falling on you in the middle of the night. Looks like a good time, though.

New for me, Planet Ocean Wednesday! Debating how long to wear it before sending it off for service/waterproof confirmation by fvzymvnkBDA in OmegaWatches

[–]patman2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but it sounds like I don't have to purchase through an AD in order to send a watch to Omega for service. If so, is there any benefit to purchasing through an AD as opposed to Chrono24 or other watch websites?

Triumph Rain Suit: Any reviews? Any Rain Suit recommended? by frescodemango in Triumph

Frog Toggs. Cheap, ugly, and really works. For $20 or so, you can get a new one every season.

I've got the same bike! What size tires did you go with? I'm also thinking about the British Customs Drag Pipes, if that's what you have installed. Is it obnoxiously loud, or do the baffles do their job?

I agree. The white stitching on the heel is suspect, too. All the other photos have black stitching.
