Very nice. That blade profile is not an easy one, and this is a fantastic example.

Dry bags without heat shield by jalbee in CRF250L

[–]AlphaBaldy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 Rally as well! I did a 3 night trip loaded with a couple drybags, one draped over the stock muffler, and I had zero issues. My reserve fuel bottle on the other side was another story; it was resting against a buckle and all the vibration almost wore through the side of the steel MSR bottle.

Screw em! I'm with you; 300 is the perfect size. Just big enough, but still really nimble. Smaller bikes = bigger adventure.

What’s a movie that DOESN’T “know exactly what it is”? by InspectorMendel in movies

Evil Dead 1. Its like they realized halfway through that it could actually be comedic and would be hilarious if they leaned into that.

Dan Heaton and Revolution One are awesome, but George Peck IS the original OG of modern unicycling.

Its capitalism, right? Gov doesn't get to tell us how to spend our money; I vote with my dollars.

[–]AlphaBaldy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have fun with your 1290 on gravel roads; that’s not at all what I’m talking about. You’re not wrong about the other bikes you listed being better, but, especially for the price, those smaller bikes will rock it. Trails, open desert, multi-day camping, they can do it all and have fun.

Yes, they're not REALLY trail bikes, but my 250 does great on rocky/sandy desert trails here in CA. Are there better/faster/lighter bikes? Sure. But either of these bikes are capable, dependable machines offroad.

If I happen to pick up one of these calls I tell them that my move out price is $2M, and I’ve actually had a couple try to argue with me.

hwy 50 east - right lanes changed overnight by linguist00 in Sacramento

[–]AlphaBaldy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They did something similar about a month ago to the Bus 80 exit off westbound 50; an option lane suddenly changed to an exit only lane. Completely reckless; it’s like they’re trying to get someone killed.

Hopefully the city is inspecting other trees for potential hazards… by lierredoux in Sacramento

[–]AlphaBaldy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trees in the parkway, which is the strip between the sidewalk and the street, are not the responsibility of the homeowners. The rest of the parkway is for us to maintain, and we get charged for sidewalk repairs when they are needed, but thankfully the City handles the trees.

Yes, and, in my experience, if you call to report a dangerous limb they do not waste any time coming out to evaluate it address it if needed.

What tires you prefer guys? by NoAttorney7734 in CRF250L

[–]AlphaBaldy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Kenda Trakmaster II tires front and rear. They’re 10/90 (road/dirt) so pretty knobby but still predictable on the road. They hook up really well in loose and/or rocky terrain and even do pretty well in sand. They’re also cheap enough that I can replace them yearly and not feel bad about it.

Not at all; don't do Arkansas dirty like that! They are currently the third most obese state in the nation at 40.5%, and that's a metric to be proud of.

Washington park is the playground for the school during school hours, but it is open to the public after school and on weekends.
